heres my Springfield Operator w/ Surefire P111,

I got a deal for the light on ebay but the light was originally for a Glock not for a 1911, so I had to put the light on the milling machine to make it fit...but it eventually fit with excellent results

Very nice, I wish I had one.

Have to say though (flame me all you want) that the light mount seems to mess with the lines of a 1911, makes it seem a bit ungainly in a way that it wouldn't with a Glock (and its lack of elegance).

I've got a leapers drop leg for my G21.  How do you like it for the 1911?

This one is an ebay special...er no brand. but is well made, I did have to mod it so the gun + light would fit, good success there.  Im still deciding if I like it, It kinda sticks out too far on the leg and threatens to hit door jams. I guess its ok for some things- It does have an intimidation factor and I do like the option to remove the holster from the leg drop so you can attach it to a LBV or a belt, also it has a spare mag holder. It does look cool...but functional- the jury is still out.

edit: Oh yea- the 1911 is heavier than a glock too..which could suck if you were to do some running with it strapped to your leg.

It looks like the same one sold at cheaper than dirt under the Leapers brand (like 12 bucks) I got mine to check out the whole idea of a drop leg (never had one).  I had to modify it a bit myself.  But I like it so much I'm not going to get a more expensive drop leg.

Now your wanting to give it away to a loving home right? Well , I would like to volunteer for the job! I have a very nice climate controlled gunsafe where it wil be kept nice and warm and dry(regardless of what it is doing outside right now), I'll carry it for long walks and feed it right. It will be kept clean and get plenty of excercise! So what do you say? BTW, nice set up !

Very nice! Im having a hard time deciding between a 1911 and a Glock. Seams that everone should own a 1911 of some sort.

EGGXAKTLY.......Every red-blooded American should own at least one 1911.....

then after that its ok to get a Glock.....IMHO.

When I get back to the real world, I will do some pictures of my babies.....

Pilk.

P.S. the Springfield that is the topic of this thread ROCKS!!!!

Enjoy your tool, I am sure it shall give good service.

Cocked and unlocked for a 1911, this practice I shall take a pass.

How much modification to the rails did you need to do? I have a 1911 similar to the Springfield Operator, and have been thinking about getting a light for it.. if it fits the Sig 226 with light rail, bonus.

That is sweet.

I must get a SA Operator one of these days.

That light looks good on it, too.

no mods to the gun. just to the light (latch and grip switch relocation)
