Quoted: Appears that some of the more radical Biblical literalists are willing to fight (or at least they say they are) against the Government to resist removal from certain illegal settlements and also some that are in land being returned to the Palestinians and Gaza.
So if fighting does break out, should the US support either side? Should the Palestinians support either side? or stay out of it? Do you think they could stay out of it? Or do you think most of the Palestinians are going to do what most Israels are going to do? hunker down and stay the hell out of the way of everybody.

There's been a 'civil war' in Israel since the PLO got started...
As for the current issue, the Govt will just abandon the luddites & let them fight the Palis unsupported.
The wall will go up, and Israel will just say 'Ok, you don't want to move? Well, we're leaving, have fun'...
The Palis will then fight the luddite settlers, which means less of them to try and breach the security barrier to get at Israel-proper...
P.S.
Why don't I support the settlers?
Simple: Unlike the USA, Israel's borders with the Palis are short enough to be sealed.
If they seal the Palis out of Isarael and withdraw behind fixed defenses, the Palis will be forced to deal with Arafat... Arafat will continue to blame the 'Israeli occupiers' and the people will say 'What occupiers, I haven't seen an Israeli for a whole year'... Arafat will be screwed... 'Emperor's New Clothes', you see...
And the suicide fanatics will blow themselves up against Isaraeli minfields and bunkers, not cafes & schoolbusses...
