Benelli M1 Super 90 field. 22 " bbl. Add a mag tube and you have a combat shotgun.IMO

Rem. 870. The express models can be had for around $200 on sale. Academy would be a good place to look. I paid $259 for mine a couple years ago, it will last a few lifetimes.

saiga 12 comes with a toggle switch to change from 2 3/4 to 3" shells...
not sure you would want to hunt with it tho... has a really tight pattern. at least mine does. |

Reminton 11-87 It is a good all around gun if you want a semi-auto. It cycles well with bird shot or turkey and buck shot. It is available in many configurations. |

I got my Mossberg Maverick Model 88, from Academy for $139.00.
It shoots fine, works every time, has a vented rib, and was at a good price. How you gonna beat it?  |

What is it about Southerners that they love so much to use that buckshot shit for killing deer?
Use a fricking rifle, for God's sake. A Marlin 336 will do the job if you want a quick and handy carbine. Or a Remington Model 7. Or a Ruger M77 Compact. I have to use a damn shotgun for deer in Ohio, but thank God buckshot is illegal for deer. I slap a rifled barrel on the 870 and shoot saboted high speed slugs. It's *almost* like a rifle. If you MUST use a shotgun, I suggest you get an 870 combo with a smoothbore 28" barrel and a rifled slug barrel. |

Academy in my area sells the Beretta 390 (12 gauge) with 28" barrel, synthetic stock, matte finish and 3 choke tubes for about $530 brand new. This gun is a reliable, gas-operated and will not have as much recoil as a comparable pump shotgun. I'm not sure what price range you're looking in. At least check out the Beretta 390 before you make your final decision.

i have had great luck with several guns.
winchester 1300 series. my slug barrel is excellent, my 26 inch barreals swing nice.( i have a 22, 26, 28 and a slug barrel for this one). with briley extended chokes the patterns are great. 3' 00 patterns really well in the full choke in the slug barrel w/ AP tritium sights. i switch to a modified or I/C if i think im going to shoot slugs and i shoot about a 2.5 inch group at 100 yards open sights with a 2 3/4 inch winchester slugs. BTW..hevishot is now available in 00...its awesome..out of a hevishot choke. the pump system on the 1300 is wickedly fast. i shoot alot of 870's great as expected..except i find the safety on the 1300's in a better position. i also shoot a Browning BPS. that bottom ejection is sweet in a duckboat or blind. i have a 1100 and a beretta pintail.. the pintail is fast becoming my new duckgun. if it were me.. i would seriously look into a winchester black shadow...and buy an extra slug barrel..with a choke tube. |

CHEAP-ASS Chuck , Get a Charles Daly, they are made by KBI, But I have a semi auto that will use 2 3/4 or 3" and it was super cheap at wal
 mart. Ive used it for 3 years and no problems. I shoot skeet, dove, squirrels, crows, and whatever else with no problems. But for deer, Get a rifle.

Remington 870 Express Super Magnum 12Ga will take anything from 2 3/4" to 3 1/2". Retails for around $350. I bought one in a camo turkey config last year.
