We were at some sort of historical low point in history, with regard to crime rates.

This was presented as a positive thng, to be sure.

But I have to wonder...(hold on...which side of this tinfoil hat goes in front..)....

Does it strike anyone as odd that on the expiration of the AWB, they announce a low point for crime....as if they're laying the groundwork for a story on rising crime rates?

Sounds about right.

Don't forget where you heard it first.

Yeah, and they specifically mentioned it was a 10 year decrease.

When the LA Police Chief was on one of the news shows he made specific mention that they were going to start recording all assault weapon crimes so that in two years they can come back and show how much assault weapon crime has risen.

So they already have plans for "new" studies to be published right before the 2006 election.

Its probably not going to happen, since supposedly he can barely keep his dept afloat because of so-called budget cuts.

...a fact that has NEVER been mentioned by ANY member of the media, BTW...

Yeah, it's hilarious.  I find it difficult to explain to people that during the AWB's tenure, the number of AR15s increased TENFOLD.  Just look at the number of postbans to prebans (as of yesterday); it's easily 10 to 1.  Watch a liberal try to reconcile that fact with a decrease in crime.  The phrase is Cognitive dissonance.

Yeah, now that the ban is over, sales will probably taper off somewhat (after an initial bump) and the crime rate will go back up because there are less guns being sold...
