Fox and Friends had the Director of Operations of the Texas Air National Guard on this AM and He said there was no need for Bush to use contacts to get to the head of a waiting list to get into the Guard because there was NO waiting list. Anyone passing the tests to become a pilot was in. There was a waiting list to get into the Guard for non-pilots, but all pilot candidates were in.
He also said there was no way a TANG unit had a state-of-the-art typewriter. They got leftover equipment. He also mentioned Staudt had retired before the memo was supposedly written and couldn't have had any impact or placed any pressure on anyone. The Director of Operations also said the Boston Herald called him earlier this year and they spoke over the course of 3 days. Of course the newspaper misquoted the Director.
