Soon most of us will be getting a check from the government. For most of us that check should be about $300. Now, we really didn't expect to get the money back, and so it shouldn't be in the budget for any of us. So, what I propose is that each of us take 10% of our tax rebate chack and do something with it to help the RKBA movement. 10% of $300 is $30, just right for getting someone a membership to the NRA, for example. If each NRA member would do that, we would be over 8 MILLION strong. Or donate your 10% to the NRA-ILA, GOA, JFPO, 2nd Amendment Foundation, or whatever active gun-support group you believe in. Get a group of friends together and combine your 10% to pay for a "Kids Shoot Free Day" at the local range. The Feds have taken our money for years and spent it on a lot of things we oppose. This is our chance to take a little of that money back and spend it where it can do some good. How about it, folks? We all talk a good game, but how many will agree to put their money where their mouth is? You say you are willing to die for the RKBA, will you pay $30 for it?

Done. And the other $270 will go towards a new firearm so's to help out the manufacturers with their legal bills. A win-win.

Great idea. I think this post is probably the single best idea proposed in a LONG time on these boards.

Count my 10% in. I think I'll get a friend a membership to the NRA.

Already decieded to give my whole check to a local libertarian who is running for county comissioner in the next election, and I think I have talked several others into it. He will have a bigger campaign fund before the others even think about starting.

I usually spend such things on getting handouts printed for distribution at gunshows.

Kinkos doesnt know how helpful they have been in spreading the pro-RKBA message over the last couple years.[:)]

However, it is sad that so many people who attend gunshows would [b]need[/b] to be told....

Must be nice to get a "refund!" I worked too much last year, making about an extra $4K on overtime in the process, and my federal government is oh so put out with me for that! Just to ensure I stay in line this year and don't make any more money than I "need" they've taxed me a little beyond what was deducted from my paychecks - probably to help pay for the reams of paperwork some poor tax acountant had to complete due to the enormous amount of money I raked in last year.

Since we are going to distribute 10% of our $300 to "the cause", might we not do well by sending part of that [b]to this site[/b] we love to help keep it going???? I think I'll be doing that, along with a start toward a GOA membership. Anyway, my $.02 worth....

I donate over $300 a year to the fight. I'm an annual member in every firearm organization I could find. I donate $20 a month though the CFC to three different RKBA associations.

I just renewed my NRA membership, the rest is going to pay on debts., if I'm lucky maybe a little goes for ammo.

Here's a better idea, one that stands to make a MUCH bigger difference than a membership to an organization.

Take your $30 and buy some ammo. You can buy 1650 rounds of .22LR at Walmart, or buy whatever. Then, locate one or more persons who have never had the oppertunity to fire a gun, and TAKE THEM TO THE RANGE. Don't try to recruit them or anything, just take them shooting. Make a particular effort to take a female (except Imbrog|io, as this would prove impossible [:)]). Don't waste your time with hard-core anti's, but try to take someone who ordinarily wouldn't go with you.

The NRA, GOA, JPFO, and others aren't going to be able to make nearly as much difference as YOU can with the people YOU know.

Nice to see some of the replies on this thread. I've decided how I'm spending mine-- $30 (my 10%) gets a fence-sitting friend an NRA membership. Maybe it will be enough to keep him in the NRA and get him a little more on our side. $200 is going to toys, probably targets for my range. And $70 is going to a big steak dinner with all the trimmings for two!

Let's spread the word to other lists and forums about the 10% solution!

i am 100% sure that it will be a non-taxable rebate. what they are doing is lowering the brackets, and adjusting the with-holdings back to jan 1. they are sending YOU the check, NOT your employers.

but yeah, GREAT ideas, i'm spending 10% on an NRA membership for the girlfriend, another 10% on ammo, and the rest on other gun related items!
