If you follow these rules you and those around you will enjoy shooting for a long time to come.

No one is perfect and people often makes mistakes.  I have at a shoot failed to clear a misfired round from the chamber of my rifle.   I never point my weapon at anyone, never touch the trigger when i'm not shooting, and always make sure i know what i'm aiming at.

Becuase i followed these rules of safety, my mistake did not endager the other shooters present.  If i didnt follow these rules it would have elevated my mistake to a very dangerous situation.

I locked the bolt back when i put the rifle in the rack.  

My Safety Rule for this thread.

ALWAYS lock the bolt back before leaving the firing line.

Good thread. Good points that eventually seem overrated by some, and that is when accidents happen.
