Quoted: I guess I should have been more specific. I don't want a full auto MP5. I want a semi-auto that looks like it because I don't have $10,000+ to spend on it. As for barrel lenght...isn't there a way to legally shorten the barrel if you get something from the ATF?
Thanks for all the quick replies

You are looking at a HK94 (figure $5,000) and making a SBR on a Form 1 (add $200 tax stamp and a couple hundred for gunsmithing).
FYI, ALL transferrable MP5s began as HK94s. They were converted prior to 1986 by registered sear or registered receiver Title 2 conversion. I don't think a single pre1968 import of a genunine transferrable MP5 exists.
Also be wary of clones. Even if SW (or one of the SW shell companies) didn't make it they are still using the same parts.
Suppossedly POF USA will soon offer US made 90 series receivers. These won't be quite as good as factory German but they will be a LOT better than the current US made stuff. Then combined with a POF MP5 part kit (or German if you can find it) and a few US made (prefferable non critical to performance) parts for 922r compliance you can have a decent gun.
