AFAIK that was coined in 2020 by communists to mock what they thought were people of Italian descent (who stereotypically eat pasta and gravy, hence by the standards of progressives it's a bigoted term) who showed up to prevent their local park and neighborhoods from being trashed by Antifa and BLM terrorists.
