I dont get the hate . They are comfortable, cheap , float , waterproof and available in a wide array of colors . I have a pair and while they dont get as much wear as my hey dudes or dockers or vans or converse or leather drivers or olukais or sanuks , or Salewas or Scarpas or Asolos or Danners or redwings or Nikes or whatever else is in my closet. They serve their purpose at times , I guess .
