I helped out the great state of Michigan this weekend, donated $105. Actually they were going to hold on to my license if I didn't.
State Trooper said he clocked me at 89 in a 70. Being the nice guys that troopers are, he wrote it for 80, which saved me $30. I have not had a ticket in 11 years. He failed to ask me if I had any weapons in the truck. I had my Glock 20 under my armrest  and a Saiga 20 behind my rear seat

Sorry to hear about that, but I congratulate you for owning up to it and not posting, "How do I get out of a ticket for 89 in a 70?"

That's cheap. I was going 59 in a 49 and got a $205 ticket. Cop didn't ask for weapons either. Had my CZ in the glove box.

I got busted for 80 in a 55, extenuating circumstances (wont go into it, long story).  Prick motorcycle cop too

I just took a trip and didn't get a ticket.  But only because I used my cruise control.

I have a heavy foot and have to use cruise to keep it legal.  You might try it.

I used to keep my military ID in my wallet next to my driver's license when I lived in the VA/DC/MD area.  I never got a ticket from a LEO when they saw the ID, just warnings.   I don't know if it was the mil ID that did it, but I didn't do any fast talking at all.

Drove my wife nuts.  She's a hottie but gets tickets all the time for speeds lower than what I got warnings for.

Any state's CPL is good in Michigan.

I was going real fast to deliver a baby.  The LEO that stopped me was the father of a kid I delivered earlier in the year.  He gave me an escort to the hospital and has his buddy in another cruiser cut off traffice so we could pull out into the street.  That was cool! I was going like 25 over.

Yes, but Michigan law says you inform the officer at once that you armed or risk going to jail.

I doesn't matter what state issued the CPL or CCW you must abide with Mich law.

On the gun issue...

Despite what many of the tin-foil hat types around here believe, the LAST thing many highway patrol types want to do is find something to arrest you for.  They are assessed based on productivity - which in that line of work means TICKETS.  I have friends who are municipal / county cops who have caught crooks with outstanding warrants and later learned they they had received tickets from the highway patrol in the interim. Assuming the patrolman even bothered to run the license, he ignored the warrant.

Think of how many more tickets you could issue in the time it would take you to search a vehicle or arrest somebody!

I am not saying all highway patrol is like that - or if that is how it works in all states - but often it is.

A few years ago i got pulled over for doing a wheely on the freeway at 100mph on my CBR900RR.  Long story short almost took a ride to the pokey!  Oh and the ticket $3700 thank you very much.

3 weeks later on the same bike the night before i was going to sell it to a friend we were doing 175 down Hwy 26 about 3 in the morning took the offramp and 5 cop cars showed up within 10 seconds.  Luckily by the time someone got us on radar we were only doing 100mph and just got a $300.00 ticket.

That was about 8 yeras ago and those bikes are alot of fun...
