I was sitting at the computer at home at about 1005 this morning, and all of a sudden doubled over in pain.  It was like I got kicked in the cojones.  I had quite a bit of beer on Friday night, but only 4 throughout the day yesterday, but it looks like my kidney decided to tell me who's boss.  I have a really tight ache in the left gut, just like if you got the boys punched.

Called a nurse friend of mine, and she has me drinking beaucoup cranberry juice and water.  I've gone through about a gallon of the stuff already, and still can barely pee.  I get the urge on the average of about every 5 minutes, but it's only a trickle.  It's not painful to urinate, but that ache in my gut is not very pleasant.

So, I'll be buying a LOT of that Ocean Spray cocktail.  Get your buy orders in ASAP,as the price is going to hit the roof come Tuesday AM!

Yeah.  The timing couldn't be worse.  I'm scheduled to head overseas on the 20th for a new job.

I'm drinking as much water and cranberry as possible, hoping to "flush the works."  I've never had an attack like this before, and it's not real fun.  I can hack it though.  Dr. will be available Tuesday.

dude kidney stones SUCK.

I had a 2mm stone last year <my first and only so far> I damn near wanted to die. From what i was told 2mm is a SMALL one.

Damned holiday weekends!  I'm at work, by the way.  Woe betide the individual who makes me come after them today!

I have heard of the ultrasound, but don't know if it's covered my my insurance (BCBS Empire PPO).  The doc is out of the office until Tuesday.

For those of you who have gone through this before, about how long does it take from initial gutache until passing of the stone, without the ultrasound?

mine was about 24hours. I never actually felt the stone pass thank god. the pain was in it moving into the bladder.

I had a room mate that cranked out 2-3 a month. his would take anywhere from a day to a week depending on the size. He actually became so acustomed to the pain it didn't bother him much anymore. he had the ultrasound but frankly he said the basket hurt less. According to him it felt like getting pounded in the kidneys with a hammer for 30min straight. and even then he still ended up getting the basket. This kid was so bad they ended up putting in a stint that they changed every 60 days. it was the only way he would develop scar tissue that close off his winky.

BAD SHIT INDEED!!
