I just sold my 69 El Camino SS 396 and I am looking for a new toy to play with. I found this 71 El Camino SS on Ebay and just went and looked at it in person. The car is in immaculate condition, it has a 6 speed Richmond gear box, 4.11 gears, and a built LS6 engine. (454) It has all new polyurethane bushings and the car is faster than shit, about a mid 12 second car with slicks.

What do you guys think?? He said I could have it for $11,750 if the auction doesn't exceed that price.

I've always wanted an el camino. They should bring that one back.

personally I like the 70 much better than the 71 the single headlights just don't look right to me.

Was it an original LS6 car?

That is way too much rearend gear for a richmond gear box some of those richmonds have a stump pulling 4.00 first gear

If you could get any type of traction without breaking the rear end that car should be faster than 12's.

look into the Holden Maloo. Aussie vehicle....probably what the El Camino would have become if it had lasted here in the states.

The richmond 6 speed has a overdrive so thats not going to be your problem, I was concerned with the low first gear along with the 4:11 rear end.

Think about it originally they would put the close ratio M-21 or M-22 with 4:11 gears that had a 2.20 first gear and even with that and BBC torque you could barely plant the bitch.

Now amagine 4:11 with a mid 3 first in a big block el camino with not too much weight over the rear tires???

You wont be able to hook up in first at all,

But hey thats always fun for those mile long burnouts

Not an option in 1971.

I would say it is probably worth it if it is as clean as you say it is. I saw a pretty cherry stock LS5 454 for sale for $17,000. If you want a stock type car I would probably pass but if you want something to play with it looks pretty nice.

I dont like the 71 grille the LS6 wasn't available in 71 the richmond 6 speed is great I wish I had one in my cutlass, and the paint is kinda gay.

Oh well, someone bid it up to $12,500. Like said earlier, $12k area will buy a lot of El Camino. Now if I could get my hands on a big block Chevelle for that kind of money, then I would be a happy camper.

Just as well. Let it go. You already had an el Camino and sold it. There are so many other muscle cars to get and so little time.
