I had to put my dear friend Toby to sleep this evening, 2 days before his 7th birthday.  Way too young to die, in my opinion.

He died from complications of a particularly nasty cancer called "Hemangiosarcoma" which, it turns out, is more common in Golden Retrievers and German Sheppards than other breeds.

I had him on a chemo-regimen at the Ohio State Veterinary Hospital for most of the summer and I think it might have extended his life for a month or two.  Who knows...

Very, very sad...

I'm sorry for your loss.

A few years ago we lost a 7 month old puppy to what was apparently a heart problem.  It was very hard to take.

So very sorry.  He was a beautiful dog.  Looks much like our 2 year old Goldie female who is the love of our lives.
He would want you to get another one to remember him by.

Man, I'm sorry.  My dog Baxter died in the middle of the night a few years ago.  He had a tumor on his spleen that ruptured.  He died in my arms.  That had to be the worst fucking feeling I ever had.  Luckily he's brother is still with me.

Take it easy and remember all the great times you had together.

We keep this at our clinic...hope it helps

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Man....that sucks.

R.I.P. Toby

I love dogs and cats.

I had to put down my pet cat Lighthouse last year. She died in my arms. She was about 21 years old. I'd known her for 18 of those. She was Jet black with a tiny sprinkle of white on her breast, hardly noticeable, so everyone thought she was a an EVIL BLACK CAT....she had the bightest green eyes you'd ever seen. She was like a wizards familiar. She would greet us at the door like a mutt....She would jump up on your lap and demand a scratching.....she used to sleep on my chest or between my legs....she was SUPER affectionate for a cat. Really very smart for a cat too. Every cat hater who ever met her would say "This is the only cool cat I've ever known." Because of that I haven't replaced her.

I miss her very much.

Sorry for your loss man....you did the right thing.

Take it easy man......

I'm not much of a dog person, but I know this...
When we get to heaven, the dogs who served us in our lives will be there to greet us.

Sorry for your loss.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

sorry for your lost. My dog is 16 years old now and really starting to show her age. Her hearing is bad and her eyes do not seem as clear as what they used to be. But boy if you leave that back gate open where she can room the streets you swear that she was a puppy again. The last blood testshowedsigns of cancer.I hope if she does not suffer that she goes in her sleep. Iknow in the next few months that I might have to put her to sleep.
