WTF is this? A muslim imam gives invocation to a mostly Christian (or at least philosophically) political party. Was this for pandering purposes? Or to show some sort of sensibility? Aren't muslims still a minority? This just seemed weird to me.

You intolerant or what?

I am sure there are some Muslim Republicans.

Muslims tend to be very conservative.

This will only lose the republican party evangelical votes.

Republican party takes the Evangelical Christian vote for granted just like Democrats take the black vote for granted.

No,

Pandering is having John "political free speech for me but not for thee" McCain and Arnold "I'm a RINO" Schwarzenneger have huge speaking roles at the convention.

No, no, no. Not intolerant at all. It just caught me by surprise. Bush/Republicans base is the Christian sector. After a beautiful rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" that had me standing up in my house with near tears in my eyes, as a  conservative, I would have expected a Christian invocation. I guess it would have been just as strange to have Rev. Billy Graham to speak at the Democrat convention.
