My wife is a first grade teacher and today was "meet the parents day". So all the parents come in and meet and greet their rug rat's new teacher. Great, well one of the parents takes my wife aside and tells her they are Jehova's witnesses and proceeds to tell my wife under no certain terms is their child to recite the pledge in the morning. They consider that "worship" and it will not be tolerated. The child will stand with his arms to his side, not over his heart. The idiot also gave my wife what looks like a comic book about JW. She told her to go home and read it and see what she thinks, "no pressure", she says. Fuck that, you don't go to your kid's school on the meet the parents day and try to fucking convert the teacher to your religion, that is just a bunch of bullshit in my opinion. [/rant]

First, public school suck. Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe in God or Jesus? If so, why do they bitch and whine about holidays like Christmas and saying "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance?? Some screwed up people. |
It's my understanding that they don't believe in Jesus. |
I've found that turning the hose on them when they come knocking usually keeps them away for a few months, at least. My grandmother was evil though, she collected up some of those pamphlets and sprinkled them around the driveway and drew a chalk outline. Kinda like that suggestion floating around on the web, she actually did this back in the 80s. Was hilarious.

Welcome to the world of morons. If you (meaning the parent(s)), don't like whatever, then homeschool. If you don't like the country you live in then move out---ASAP. If you are in my classroom then STFU. Support the wife---she needs all that she can get in todays society. My hat is off to teachers who still know what teaching is about and do it accordingly.

My hats off to those who teach!!!!
As for your wife and those JW parents....chalk it up to more stupid stuff at work that she has to deal with!! |

I'm a Christian: I trust that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior. I'm Saved because of Him, and in spite of me. Its my faith in Him that saves me.
Do really Jw's believe in Jesus? -most say no, if they are not JW's.... Its commonly held that they find their 'salvation' from the central office and the tracks it puts out. JW's was started by a shister and lier who made many 'predictions' which never came true. He sold 'miracle' type products and such. Like beans that were supposed to yeild huge crops (usually lucky if anything sprouted). JW's rewrote parts of the bible to suit themselves. They take parts of the bible out of context, cauase they only know the context the central office told them... I've tried talking with them on a intelectual Christian level. They tried to explain to me that my understanding was clearly wrong as it conflicted with theirs... problem is that my understanding came from knowing the history and the context... passed down by christians for 1000's of years... theirs came from the home office... which has its roots in its shister leader of the late 1800's. Once one has been taken into the JW cult, if the inductee even attend one bible study or another church meeting outside the JW's they will quickly exclude them from everything... leaving a helpless person searching to belong... if the rest of the inductee's family is JW then they cut the excfellowshiped family member away as well, or the family would face the same. And this is unbearable to someone so taken in by a cult. THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT CHRISTIAN. CHRISTIANS SEEK THE TRUTH IN LOVE. Looking for more answers... try: www.envoymagazine.com/backissues/1.4/jul_augstory1.html or www.saintsalive.com/general/jwchrist.htm |

Having met them, I would say they truly do Believe.
And I would call them Christians. In fact, I would call them better Christians than many people have called themselves Christian I have never had anything shoved down my throat by them. Respect flowed both ways between us. I just wish one of them had been a female; something extra interesting might have happened. |
I had them come by and wake me up once, I answered the door pissed.
I also had them try to bother me at 8AM when I was getting off work, |
They can hardly be called Christians as that is not thier belief structure. Like the Jews the New Testament means nothing to them. They are no Christians.
But anyway the kid won't cause your wife any grief, he just won't participate in some functions in school, he will just be by himself durring that time.
JWs also believe taking blood from another person is canabalism so they won't accept transfusions. If they need operations they save up thier own blood ahead of time and take it back durring the operations. If they need it on the quick they are just SOL |
JWs believe that Jesus is not the son of god but the incarnation of the angel Michael, this is why they cannot be considered christian.
Tell her to Invite the JW over to watch some PORn and Drink some Beer
JW's believe that Jehovah is god and Jesus is his son,and yes it is a cult (imo).
My family coverted into JW's when i was 2 and I got raised in it and when i was in school i wasen't allowed to do the pledge or any hollidays i.e. x-mass,halloween thankgiving, easter etc. lvgunner777 your wife hasent heard the last of them, the parents will be back to make sure thier child is excused from the class when there is something going on for a holiday(i was usually sitting in a room by myself with a teacher) I've been out of that CULT (dis-owened)for 18 years now and I HAVENT LOOK BACK. i very very rarely talk to my sister or parents, there brain-washed into that religion..........I guess i'm the now ...................................BULLDOG |
My parent's next door neighbors were JW's, and they used to regularly burn reams and reams of papers in their BBQ, the home office had "updated" their doctrines, and mandated that they destroy the old stuff. A month later, they would SWEAR that their materials had always been that way, and they'd never changed or destroyed anything. Very wierd stuff. |
I was born into it. Majority of both side of my family are heavily into it.
They do believe in Jesus. They believe he is their king and gods son. I was shunned from the church around the age of 13. All in all they are good people with good morals. Think about it, who would you rather have for a neighbor, a Muslim or a JW? They are sheep in a flock and will admit to it if you ask them. Don't forget the JW's have been put to the torch by Hitler along with the Jews. They trust that Jehovah will protect them and are willing to sacrifice there own life. One nation under God with liberty and justice for "ALL". I will protect those who choose not to protect themselves regardless of who or what they believe. Samuel |
When the Jehova Witness come knocking on my door to preach, I just politely tell them I'm "Southern Baptist" and they just go away.
Although I agree with them on the pledge and Christmas, I still think they are whacko.
One thing I din't understand about them is that they believe only 144,000 will make it in to Heaven. So why are they trying to recruit everyone the meet? If I believed that I wouldn't want to decrease my chances any. |
They do not believe in his DIVINITY. JW are idiots. I grew up across the street of a Kingdom Hall, and I have NEVER seen such complete fools in my entire life. It's a cult, not a religion. |
Support your wife.
Put "Kick me, I'm an ass" papers on the JWs' backs. |
If you don't mind telling us, what in the dickens did you do at age 13 that required this church to 'shun' you?
Protect them all you wish, but it will not save them from righteous criticism for their beliefs! Or from derision, either, I am afraid. Eric The(Fundamental)Hun |

Sweep, you think that pledging allegience to the flag of the United States is wrong for a Christian to do? And it's wrong to celebrate in any manner the Birth of Jesus? Or are you simply referring to the 'overcommercialization' of what should be a solemn religious Holiday? Eric The(Inquisitive)Hun |
They are Christians and you need to learn to respect their differences while this is still America.
What does 'respect' mean to you? 'Beyond discussion and any criticism'? If so, then your very definition of America is likely different from mine. So, I'm afraid that I don't think I need to 'respect' anyone's differences! Nor does anyone 'have' to respect mine! In America we are FREE to discuss, debate, criticize, and even castigate, the ideas and/or beliefs of anyone and any group. Right? Isn't that so? Eric The(FreeAsHades)Hun |

Master Chief Paul, I don't believe they are Christians. But I guess that could be because I may hold being "Christian" to being something different than you. Research their history. Its a cult. Ironically they believe they are the only ones who got it right, and are basically brain washed by the central office. Even Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox folks acknowledge that while they don't see eye to eye on all their doctrines and Traditions, that the three are Christian. I'm a devoute non-denominational Christian, my best friend is Greek Orthodox. We both are certain of eachs salvation. The JW's don't interact and condem the others. They hold onto tons of false teachings, and flawed and changing doctrine. You don't find that in someone who knows the unchanging God. I understand my friends Tradtions, but don't hold onto them myself. Neither of us believe we are saved by those Traditions. As for false teachings here is an examle: The reason that they say no blood transfusions is from the book of ACTS in three different verses... Acts 21:25 (New International Version translation) is one such verse: "As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality." Now the context here was that the Jews (who had been brought up with many religious rules and laws) were in a dilema. The salvation from Christ was for everyone... even the non Jew (AKA Gentile)... so what were they to tell someone who'd never heard or lived under there law to do... what law was to be held onto? well the quote above was the message from the Jew to the Gentiles.... So why obstain from blood? Does it say blood tranfusion? Nope... it was because it was a common belief among pagans that you took power from an animal by consuming its blood.... so symbolically it was wrong for a Christian to appear to 'take power' from anything other than Christ. They didn't want there new Christian brothers to look hypocritical, or hollow. But today we don't feel that were gonna absorb anyones power from their blood, so why not allow blood tranfusions... Answer: because if you are a cult, and you want to manipulate folks, you use what you see people using as a power base and manipulate away. So the sorce of power becomes the organization. Not God or His Son, the Perfect Sacrifice, the Christ, the Savior.
Religious freedom is one of the many American ideals I swore my life to protect. But I will stand up and speak the truth when someone asks. Note the Subject of this thread. Pray that all hear and seek the Truth. I more than 'respect their differences' but I will never forget the Truth. I will stand up and speak it to all who wish to hear. my oldest sister married a JW and they are very devout Christians, it's true that they will practically dis-own you or bannish you from the group for life if you go against something in their group, one of the daughters [my niece] got divorced and married a black man [non JW] and she has been "dis-owned" from the family, they dont even talk to their daughter anymore.
Most JW dont even associate with "non - Jehova's Witness's" a JW must marry a JW. |
They are just one, in a long line of crackpots.....they got some balls giving that to book to your wife...I would handed that back and said-
"If your child is not to recite the Pledge, then don't bring your propaganda in my classroom.." The glassy eyes are getting outa hand... We need a few rounds of persecution to set'em straight... |
Banishment is the typical M.O. of a cult org, it appears JW uses that method to keep it's members in line. |
Well, I certainly see nothing wrong with letting the child not recite the pledge. If he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to.
However, it is wrong to evangelize to your childs teacher at a PTA conference or whatever. That's just stupid. |
Agreed and think that should also go to on an Internet site dedicated to the AR-15. |
JWs believe that Jesus was simply an angel, and that there is no Holy Spirit. Also, they believe that the second coming has already occured (at various different dates; they change the date when it doesn't actually occur), and that only 144,000 people will go to heaven (those people were born before the 1930s, few are left) |
First, who on this Board is trying to 'evangelize' anyone? And, second, why would it be wrong if they tried to do so? Not every subject in General Discussion is 'dedicated to the AR-15', is it? Including this one! Eric The(Amazed)Hun |

I just rechecked this is in the General Discussion area... Master Chief, you saying that us AR-15 nuts can't talk to each other openly here? (Forum rules the only restriction of course). Top_prop |

This reminded me of a funny story from when I was younger. Growing up in southern West Virginia, my grandmother was an "old regular baptist". The JWs came one day and asked if she had some time to talk. She said she did. The guy said, "Well I'm glad because we've came to give you the truth." She crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair and said, "No son, you came to GET the truth!" She tore into them for about 30 minutes till my dad asked them to leave! I'll never forget that. Was pretty funny.
On another note, they came to my door a few weekends ago. I stepped out the front door and noticed they were rather eager to leave this time and just handed me the usual paperwork and left. When I closed the door, I remembered I had the .45 on my hip. |
Doesn't sound like they're "very devout Christians" to me...... Besides, they do not believe in the Divinity of Christ. As such, by definition, they are NOT Christian. |
Yes.
I'll have to do my research on this one, but there his a verse in the Old Testament about how the pagans decorate their trees with strands of silver. And I don't see how the practice of a pagan ritual of cutting a tree down and bringing it inside and decorating it, or the practice of teaching kids about a mythical man named Santa Claus and his flying reindeer can be a celebration of the birth of Jesus. Christmas as a Christian Practice is a rather new practice. I don't even think the Amish, Quakers or Menonites observe Christmas. If I'm right on that, are they wrong also? |
Do you have any Scripture for this, or is it just a genuinely held belief that Jesus demands that your allegiance to a nation is enmity towards Him?
There were pagans who believed in ritual water bathings as an atonement for sins, as well. Does that mean that Christian immersion baptism is likewise founded on pagan practices and should be avoided simply because the pagans did the very same thing? I think not. It is the heart that will be judged, and if you pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States, which BTW includes 'under God', or celebrate Christmas as a religious Holy Day (or 'holiday), then how can either be said to be wrong. if you do ALL in His Name?
So what if some don't celebrate Christmas? Others do, and do so very nicely, in His Name! If someone is doing the Lord's Work, and remember how the charities' coffers swell aroung Christmas time, then how can such a thing be deemed wrong? I don't accept the beliefs of the Amish, Quakers, and Mennonites on very many matters of faith, anyway, so why should I think the way they do about Chrsitmas...or automobiles? Let's all remember what St. Paul said: One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. Romans 14:5,6 If anyone esteems the Day of Christmas above all others, let him esteem it unto the Lord. If you do not wish to esteem Christmas above any other day, then unto God do not esteem it. Pretty simple 'code' to live by, this Gospel of Jesus! Eric The(NewTestament)Hun |

You know, LV, I had some of those types come to my door the other day, and I was proud of the way I handled them, but I was too much of a woos to do what I have always wanted to do.....have a chainsaw beside the door (chain removed, of course) and then to fire it up, throw the door open, and scream....COME ON IN! ...maybe even with a hockey mask...I just don't want to have to have my wife bail me out... |

Respect is one thing, but anyone who tresspasses on The Neutral Observer's property uninvited, invades His privacy, and annoys Him is getting a load of rocksalt in the ass. Regardless of their religion or lack thereof. |

Just tell them in the most polite and serious tone you can.
Right in the middle of their schpeal. cut them off. "Excuse me" " I know I'm one of the 144,000 of our kind that will be saved" give em a second to be taken aback then "now kindly be on your way, thank you for passing on the word for us, good day" and just close the door and walk away. they never came back to my house Chris |
