My wife is a first grade teacher and today was "meet the parents day". So all the parents come in and meet and greet their rug rat's new teacher. Great, well one of the parents takes my wife aside and tells her they are Jehova's witnesses and proceeds to tell my wife under no certain terms is their child to recite the pledge in the morning. They consider that "worship" and it will not be tolerated. The child will stand with his arms to his side, not over his heart. The idiot also gave my wife what looks like a comic book about JW. She told her to go home and read it and see what she thinks, "no pressure", she says. It's my understanding that they don't believe in Jesus.

I've found that turning the hose on them when they come knocking usually keeps them away for a few months, at least. My grandmother was evil though, she collected up some of those pamphlets and sprinkled them around the driveway and drew a chalk outline. JW's was started by a shister and lier who made many 'predictions' which never came true.   He sold 'miracle' type products and such.   Like beans that were supposed to yeild huge crops (usually lucky if anything sprouted).  

JW's rewrote parts of the bible to suit themselves.   They take parts of the bible out of context, cauase they only know the context the central office told them...

I've tried talking with them on a intelectual Christian level.  They tried to explain to me that my understanding was clearly wrong as it conflicted with theirs... problem is that my understanding came from knowing the history and the context...   passed down by christians for 1000's of years...  theirs came from the home office... which has its roots in its shister leader of the late 1800's.

Once one has been taken into the JW cult, if the inductee even attend one bible study or another church meeting outside the JW's they will quickly exclude them from everything...  leaving a helpless person searching to belong... if the rest of the inductee's family is JW then they cut the excfellowshiped family member away as well, or the family would face the same.   And this is unbearable to someone so taken in by a cult.

THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT CHRISTIAN.   CHRISTIANS SEEK THE TRUTH IN LOVE.

Having met them, I would say they truly do Believe.

And I would call them Christians.  In fact, I would call them better Christians than many people have called themselves Christian

My family coverted into JW's when i was 2 and I got raised in it and when i was in school i wasen't allowed to do the pledge or any hollidays i.e. x-mass,halloween thankgiving,easter etc.

My parent's next door neighbors were JW's, and they used to regularly burn reams and reams of papers in their BBQ, the home office had "updated" their doctrines, and mandated that they destroy the old stuff. A month later, they would SWEAR that their materials had always been that way, and they'd never changed or destroyed anything. Very wierd stuff.

I was born into it. Majority of both side of my family are heavily into it.
They do believe in Jesus. They believe he is their king and gods son. I was shunned from the church around the age of 13.
All in all they are good people with good morals. Think about it, who would you rather have for a neighbor, a Muslim or a JW? They are sheep in a flock and will admit to it if you ask them.
Don't forget the JW's have been put to the torch by Hitler along with the Jews. They trust that Jehovah will protect them and are willing to sacrifice there own life.  

One nation under God with liberty and justice for "ALL".

I will protect those who choose not to protect themselves regardless of who or what they believe.

I don't believe they are Christians.   But I guess that could be because I may hold being "Christian" to being something different than you.    Research their history.  Its a cult.

Ironically they believe they are the only ones who got it right, and are basically brain washed by the central office.   Even Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox folks acknowledge that while they don't see eye to eye on all their doctrines and Traditions, that the three are Christian.   I'm a devoute non-denominational Christian,  my best friend is Greek Orthodox.   We both are certain of eachs salvation.  The JW's don't interact and condem the others.  

They hold onto tons of false teachings, and flawed and changing doctrine.  You don't find that in someone who knows the unchanging God.   I understand my friends Tradtions, but don't hold onto them myself.   Neither of us believe we are saved by those Traditions.

As for false teachings here is an examle: The reason that they say no blood transfusions is from the book of ACTS in three different verses...  

Acts 21:25 (New International Version translation) is one such verse:

"As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality."

Now the context here was that the Jews (who had been brought up with many religious rules and laws) were in a dilema.   The salvation from Christ was for everyone... even the non Jew (AKA Gentile)... so what were they to tell someone who'd never heard or lived under there law to do...  what law was to be held onto?    well the quote above was the message from the Jew to the Gentiles....  

So why obstain from blood?  Does it say blood tranfusion?   Nope... it was because it was a common belief among pagans that you took power from an animal by consuming its blood.... so symbolically it was wrong for a Christian to appear to 'take power' from anything other than Christ.  They didn't want there new Christian brothers to look hypocritical, or hollow.

But today we don't feel that were gonna absorb anyones power from their blood, so why not allow blood tranfusions...  

Answer: because if you are a cult, and you want to manipulate folks, you use what you see people using as a power base and manipulate away.

So the sorce of power becomes the organization.   Not God or His Son, the Perfect Sacrifice, the Christ,  the Savior.

Banishment is the typical M.O. of a cult org, it appears JW uses that method to keep it's members in line.

Well, I certainly see nothing wrong with letting the child not recite the pledge. If he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to.

However, it is wrong to evangelize to your childs teacher at a PTA conference or whatever. That's just stupid.

JW's are not Christians; they deny the trinity and the divinity of Jesus.

JWs believe that Jesus was simply an angel, and that there is no Holy Spirit.  Also, they believe that the second coming has already occured (at various different dates; they change the date when it doesn't actually occur), and that only 144,000 people will go to heaven (those people were born before the 1930s, few are left)

This reminded me of a funny story from when I was younger.  Growing up in southern West Virginia, my grandmother was an "old regular baptist".  The JWs came one day and asked if she had some time to talk.  She said she did.  The guy said, "Well I'm glad because we've came to give you the truth."  She crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair and said, "No son, you came to GET the truth!"  She tore into them for about 30 minutes till my dad asked them to leave!  I'll never forget that.  Was pretty funny.

On another note, they came to my door a few weekends ago.  I stepped out the front door and noticed they were rather eager to leave this time and just handed me the usual paperwork and left.  When I closed the door, I remembered I had the .45 on my hip.

Besides, they do not believe in the Divinity of Christ. As such, by definition, they are NOT Christian.

You know, LV, I had some of those types come to my door the other day, and I was proud of the way I handled them, but I was too much of a woos to do what I have always wanted to do.....have a chainsaw beside the door (chain removed, of course) and then to fire it up, throw the door open, and scream....COME ON IN! ...maybe even with a hockey mask...I just don't want to have to have my wife bail me out...
