There is NO SUCH THING as a Representative Democracy.
However, if you want to play semantics, what you are saying can be described better as a Republic.
I posted about this a month or so back. Kids SniperWolfe's age are being taught that a Republic is a type of democracy, and that Representative Democracy (note the qualification of Democracy) is a Republic.
When I went to school, Republic and Democracy were two VERY different animals. Republic was superior because it was good for a small number of people to a large number of people, whereass a Democracy turns into mob rule beyond a certain small size.

I don't think there is a thinking person alive who can contest that the definitions of Republic and Democracy have been fundamentally altered. They never were the same until recently. The question is, how many people have noticed?
