omg! that's insane, and unreasonable. It would cost me a couple hundred dollars just to drive to Missouri to see the family if that were the price here. There's no way it would reach that high here. This country is too big with too many people driving to put up with that.  oh, and i paid $1.68 the other day. |

In Europe is the normality. Vito pays 1.30 euro per litre, in Italy is around 1.27... I hope that in the short-middle term the oil will return to 25-30 USD per barrell, otherwise we will be in the SHIT and more antiamerican people will add fuel on the fire to asset that this war didn't improve anything. US gas prices vary by state as much as they do throughout countries in most of Western Europe.
The cheapest gas in the US is usually outside of Atlanta,Georgia. $1.74 per gallon here in Virginia. |

Here in Virginia Beach I filled up for $1.69. When I was in Rockville, MD last week I filled up for $2.15.

I paid $1.95/gal this morning for 93 octane in Houston. Checked the gas mileage, got a whopping 12.5 mpg.

By your calculations, based on $1.76/litre, 1 gallon is 4.14 litres. 1 Imperial gallon is 4.54 litres, therefore at $1.76/litre, 1 gallon would be $7.99. However, 1 US gallon is 3.8 litres, I believe. Therefore 1 US gallon would be $6.68. Still bloody expensive though. Thank god I have a vehicle supplied by work and free fuel  Mark |

I've paid a high of $2.18US per gallon unleaded regular(87octane) at the local BP/ARCO. Gasoline has been dropping for the past 2 months or so, in South. California. It's now "down" to $2.06US per gallon. At other retailers it is approximately $0.10-$0.15US more from regular for next grades(mid 89 & premium 92 octane).

About $2 per gallon, which would be around $.50 per liter.
Gas prices have been pretty stable in this latest rise in oil prices. In May, gas prices here went from $1.70 to $2.05 in about a month, even though oil was around $35 or $40 per barrel. Not sure why that is. Probably something to do with refinery output. |

Holy ape shit batman,  lets see @ $7.30 a gallon that would mean it would cost me, $182.50 (€147.50) to fill up my truck 5.3L and $114.61 (€92.61) to juice up my mustang 4.6L Now i know why you guys drive every where on vespa's and mini's p.s gas is $1.96 up here in michigan or €1.59 |

A couple of weeks ago Iwas in Blain waiting to cross into British Columbia, gas right at the border on the US side was 2.20ish a gallon for midgrade. Across the border in BC gas was 98 cents a litre.
Do the conversion 98 cents x 3.785= 3.7093 canadian dollars per gallon x1.25 for the currency exchange= $4.64 per gallon. Over twice as much and you know it's all taxes. Right now today I can go to Shell and get the midgrade for $1.99 if I pay in cash. |

Do you mean John Kerry? Let's see...short-term oil price increase vs. long term disaster? No, I'll take 4 more years of Bush and pay a bit more for gas. It is $1.91/gal here. It peaked at $2.12 in May, and was $1.79 two weeks ago. By the way, the world wholesale price of gas is $1.20 or so a gallon. The rest of the price is tax. So what does Europe do with all that tax money? |

I paid $1.97 for 87 octane at the Chevron yesterday. Cost me right about $40 to fill up my tank. Higher grades cost about 5-10 cents more for each respective higher grade over 87. Most gas stations here are a few cents more overall than this Chevron as it is owned by a corporation that has about 150 stations and sells at cost. Chevron gives them a kickback plus their stores make them money too. This is in Southern CA.

Um... your conversion is the wrong way around. CAN $3.70 per gallon, with CAN $1=US $0.77 works out to US $2.84 per gallon, which is still nuts by our standards. BTW... in suburban Chicago, it's about US $1.90 per gallon for 87 octane. |

D'oh! That's why I do everything with a credit card or that funny colored money when I'm in canuckistan, let the bank do the currency exchange rate for me.  Plus it's enough work always having to convert english into metric when I'm dealing with the candians.

I drive two gas-guzzlers and the high gas prices are not killing me. I just don't do that much driving--sort of planned my life to avoid too much time on the crowded DC-area roads.

Friday, it jumped from $1.71 up to $1.78 here. Then, the very next day it dropped back down to $1.71. I've never seen the prices fluctuate so drastically.
