the dog just licked the wrong end of a skunk and proceeded to roll on the carpet after getting a face full. Any suggestions to rid rid this place of the stench???

For the dog, the old solution was a tomato juice bath. There may be newer products specifically designed for it, but tomato juice was what I was told ages ago.

As for the carpet..... hopefully someone has a "better living through chemistry" solution, 'cause the tomato juice isn't going to work...

Skunked again? This time forget the tomato juice. Try a mixture of 10 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part baking soda. Add a dash of degreasing dishwashing soap and pour into a spray bottle. Spray liberally over dry coat and allow to air dry. Avoid eyes. Works on inanimate objects, too!

Bathing the pet in a mixture of one quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, 1-cup baking soda and one teaspoon liquid soap. After bathing, rinse with tap water. keep out of eyes and ears

Or use vinegar to clean them both.
