Mrs Wsmc and I have a house guest from Europe, so we're doing all kinds of things American. We loaded up and headed to a secret SoCal location where folks been shootin for years.

To run down the pics...
1- The border patrol set up a checkpoint along I-8 leaving east out of San Diego. This is roughly 70 miles east of SD. They stopped us and asked our citizenship. Mrs and I said America. Guest declared her country and had to produce a passport. Interesting... almost unAmerican to have to show papers to pass. But I'll accept the added security.

2- We arrived to the secret location and set up a canopy for shade and protection from the sun. There were a couple of raindrops, too.

3&4- I started off with the Ruger MkII slab side competition. I shot at some Gatorade bottles we brought. Ended up blowing the lid off of one from about 20 yds.

5&6- Pic during indoc of guest. She did great. Took to the guns pretty well and did not need repeat of the safety procedures I explained (always point down range, never at people, trigger discipline)

7&8- I alternated between 45 yd targets and some setup around 100 yds. Notice the thin vertical black line on the ground just in front of the rocks and to the left... this is kinda what I was shooting at. Also, someone has some Ricky Carmichael action figures that were blown in half, so I set them up at like 30 yards. Heh.

9&10- Mrs gets the AR and shoots at the 45 yd rocks.

11- Mrs hits one of the computer parts already laying around. (we set it up on the rocks) Notice she manages to make it burn. If my pic would have been 1/2 second later, the flames were about the size of the whole board.

12~15- Mrs and Guest work on introducing our Guest to the AR. Ya know, I knew Ms Guest was a well made woman, but upon reviewing these pics, I was like HOLY COW. Hopefully y'all enjoy.

16- Ms Guest shoots the 22 mag wheel gun. She shot pretty well with it, too. Ended up getting about 60 rounds the whole day between the MkII, 22mag, and the lone 223. Anyway, on the 45 yd target, she was able to make a target fall -- and the 22mag shoots pretty high.

17- Mrs Wsmc shootin her CZ75 9mm.

Mrs really likes the AR. She loves and notices its accuracy with and without the red dot sight and really enjoyed making coke cans dance around.

OK, and I made the subject a little more illustrative.

BTW, Ms Guest is 28 and basically an athlete. We went for a "run" ... the dawgs, Mrs, Ms Guest, and I. Well, me an Ms Guest started haulin ass at one point and left the Mrs behind... I was dragging my shepphard (usually is the other way around) and when we got to the end of the 2.5 miles, she said that was a good warm up. So now the joke is about how she kicks my ass running. She goes to the gym for 1-2 hours every day.

Nice pics, you're a Great American...

1. God Bless the USBP.
2. Get those wimmins to lean FORWARD or stand straight up, what is it with women and LEANING BACK while shooting? Then they seem surprised when a scattergun recoil nearly knocks them on thier ass.

Forward forward forward or straight up.

3. Thanks again, You're a Great American...

Wow!!!  Good looking targets!!!

I like the tarp set up too!!! Shooting in the shade!!!

That is a new BP Checkpoint, I didn't realized they checked eastbound traffic.

Would it be just a little east of the Shell and Texaco Station?

I used to shoot out there when I lived in CA. Those were good times!!!

What's the deal with the wife locking up her web site?

It's always nice to see a San Diego rider that doesn't get on their knees for Lee's Cycles or Jeremy Toye.

Thank you, sir. Ah yes... didn't notice the leaning back. I suspect it is innate response to balance the forward weight.

Heh. heh heheh. Ms Guest is way conservative. Surprisingly so for a European, IMHO.

The BP checkpoint was completely "temporary" (cones, generators, buses, vehicles, but no permanent structures) ... and was between Acorn casino and InCoPah.

edited to add: btw, the tarp idea comes from racing the motorcycles in the high desert. When the sun is beating down on you in 95+ deg heat, best to have some shade around! Shade, couple chairs, cooler with water and gatorade, warm guns, friendly women... Yes, today, I will admit that life is good.

Ummm, not quite "locked up". Considering she is official press officer for a manufacturer, the content is "by invite" only. As shown on the homepage, ask for entry and ye shall receive. And I've got tons of respect for Toye. Dude is faster than I am.

Who taught Mrs how to hold that CZ?

Not any formal instruction. Mrs shoots pretty well, too, so we welcome any positive critique. (able to hit foot sized objects at the 45 yard targets) Also, she has long hands. It was noted by gun shop people that she is rare in that any pistol in the place could fit in her hands, even a desert eagle. (btw, Mrs loves this thread - and also I'll send her the occasional fun thread, which she always enjoys)

Thanks for the responses thus far (and more are welcomed) ... when I saw the pics being taken, I immediately thought of y'all ARFCOM brothers and knew this would make for some good times (especially considering all the negativity floating about).

Thanks for the name calling; that is so productive. To address your concern... those rocks are all soft sandstone. Explodes upon impact with rounds and rubs off to sand when you touch it. If you do not understand the relevance of this, we can start a geek thread about kinetic energy and energy absorbtion. But THIS thread is about wimminz shootin and enjoying our fine black rifles.

Also, the main rocks that are prominent are at angles to the "range line". This spot has been used as an informal range for years. Thousands and thousands of rounds have been shot here ... so if it were dangerous to the shooters, the PRK Gestapo would have long ago shut the area down. Perhaps before insulting people, you should try to gather more information, such as locale and geology.

Thanks again for your concern but not for the insult(s). Did I previously mention something about negativity on this board? I was anticipating the "Hit it" remarks (and would be disappointed without them) but was wondering if someone would come along and try to act superior and/or put us down.

And now back to our regularly scheduled progamming,
Chris

OH! I just realized that I forgot to thank Mrs Wsmc... she brought some aluminum cans and plastic bottles and a bunch of water to put in them. After we decided we were finished shooting, I set about putting everything away and locking up the evil guns for transport home. Meanwhile, MrsWsmc is picking up the "trash" we brought to the desert and then also filled a large, sturdy shopping bag with broken glass. Once that was full, she put it in a large trash bag and then filled that with shotgun shells and random debris. So we left the informal range with about 4 times the stuff we brought. Next time need to remember to lay down tarps/blankets/etc to catch the spent brass from the repeating firearms... that stuff hits the coarse desert sand and disappears. Plus there really are thousands of rounds of spent brass. Also, it was so dang hot, we were "done". When it gets cooler, we'll head out there again and come better prepared to bring home trash.

Awesome!  I'm taking the wife out this afternoon.  It's significantly cooler here, but the AR still heats up fast.
