UPDATE 4/29/23 Loki is with his new mom and dad! This has been a really difficult SemperFi Op. DoverGunner gave up a dog he loved. Loki lost his #1 Dad. Sometimes we have to trust that the right thing is the right thing at the right time, and that doesn't make it any easier, but... The people who have helped move Loki to @RECONSIX and his family are the best people in the universe. All our hearts are broken, but now Loki's can begin to heal. HOWEVER.. I disagree with DoverGunner. Loki will not forget him, and will be waiting at the Bridge, with Mark/Joker1, when it is time for DoverGunner to take that walk. Follow along with us! ~Kitties Loki's "need a home" thread is now a transport thread!!! Semper Fi Legacy Rescue's first "legal" transport will be one of Mark's own dogs--been with DoverGunner for a while, and due to medical issues, will be going to live with @ReconSix !!! Y'all chime in if you live between Kansas and Northern Ohio. Some of you have offered to help already. Now that we know the direction, Please chime in again starting on page three so we can get Loki to his new home! Let's do this! Let us know if you are up for part of a drive. @44-40Pro will be handling the logistics of this one. I will be here to help with questions. As always, no cost to the drivers. We will cover any gas or needs you have to help with Loki's transport. Once a dog comes to SemperFi Dog Rescue, he is ours forever. Once a Semper Fi Dog, ALWAYS a Semper Fi Dog.  I don't think I'm sharing too much to say that DoverGunner is having a very, very hard time letting Loki go, but he believes it is best for the dog. Due to health issues, he needs to rehome his good boy.  DoverGunner thought he had a good home with a neighbor whose dog is friends with Loki, but that fell through and Loki never left DoverGunner."Loki is a OG ( original gangster ) Semper Fi Rescue. He is a fantastic dog deserving far better than I can give him....I have been dragging my feet. This is very emotional for I loved Loki as I never loved a dog before. He is my best friend without a doubt so, Kitties, please make sure he goes to a great and fantastic home." ~~DoverGunner PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE DETAILS ABOUT LOKI BELOW. You can see how important it is to our fellow Arfcommer that his best friend gets the best possible home.  I have taken a few words of DoverGunner's note to me and Jordan, to share with you all, because he says it better than I can. (Headers and emphasis are mine) From DoverGunner: Loki came from Mark in September 2020--he was supposedly 18 months old at the time and his personality is still that of a puppy that just wants to play. Loki is the most loving and loyal dog I have ever seen or had. He does not exhibit any type of aggressive behavior and loves anyone who shows him a little attention. He enjoys snuggling in bed at night. He enjoys being a lap dog while falling asleep in the recliner. He has a fascination with his paws and demands attention be paid to his paws while petting. Number 1 for right paw and 2 for left. (Kitties--  )Everybody especially the ladies love him. Anywhere we go, banks, car wash he gets treat from people. He loves ropes fetch and especially tug of war. His favorite thing is to go outside and play fetch. He loves that rope and does not let go in tug of war. He is 100% house broken. He does not have accidents in the house nor does he destroy anything or chew anything up. He gets along with our INDOOR housecat fabulously, and they can be described as best friends. Outdoor cats are chased and barked at. Loki is great with ALL dogs. He is simply a pack dog. He prefers females over males. He loves to go for car rides. When he does go on car rides he gets treats from the bank, the car wash and Walgreens and he knows where each one of them are at. Loki learned from the older dog, Lacey, to bark at any strangers that come by the house or in front of the house and he has an intimidating bark. So he is definitely not a protection dog but he is a GREAT watchdog. He does not chase cars, but he is also not normally outside the fence except for car rides.  Obedience: He knows basic commands of sit and shake and stay. He always comes when you call. Sit and stay are his strongest obedience words. As for the "stay" command, with a firm command of stay, he will obey. Occasionally, he gets so excited to go outdoors he sometimes bolts, but when told no he returns and sits, waiting for you to say go. He is accustomed to riding in our SUV and when at the grocery store he knows to move to the front passenger seat so groceries can be loaded in the back. He is also trained to jump in the car when the hatchback is open on command "up". Loki has never tried to run away and when have opened the gate a few times he has thought he is meant to come out, but immediately returns when we say no. He will continually fetch the rope until he is worn out and exhausted. He loves playing tug of war and he is physically strong enough to pull an adult male. But he has learned the command "drop it" and will let go or sit and will release the rope immediately. He is super athletic he can run for miles then lay down for five minutes and he's ready to do it again.  Some things he needs to work on: *He is great around kids, but can get a little rough with young kids and will jump on them. He jumps on adults too. *Jumping on visitors is his worst behavior. He barks at pedestrians outside our fence, but if they come into the yard he is overly friendly and will jump on them. *He has not been properly leash trained and will pull if he sees another dog. *Loki has climbed up a tree to the Squirrel feeder and he once caught one. *He chases OUTDOOR cats--good with indoor cats. IMPORTANT STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU THINK LOKI MIGHT BE THE GOOD BOY FOR YOU!!! *Loki suffers from separation anxiety and needs a lot of attention. He is a family dog and prefers being around family members. He constantly desires the outdoors, but wants to come back in immediately. Loki has been an inside and sorta outside dog because he goes to the door wanting to be let out every 15 minutes. (From Kitties--sounds like he wants to be out, but wants his people with him more.) He desires and longs for a friend. Anytime we are out and about and he sees a dog he wants to be it's friend. From Kitties: Dovergunner feels STRONGLY that Loki should go to a home that has a playful dog--if it is a female dog, all the better. Loki needs room to run. He is a strong, active, athletic dog. A fenced yard or acreage where he can get exercise are an absolute MUST. Loki comes with all the original paperwork from Mark, all vaccination records. Loki is up to date on shots As a added bonus he will come with pet insurance/reimbursement policy until the end of 2023. LET'S GO,ARFCOM. MARK LOVED LOKI. NOW DoverGunner loves Loki. Can you love Loki for forever?

Bump for a quality FULLY VETTED dog. Dog friendly/cat friendly, house trained, basic obedience, healthy and insured? I am trying to think of a possible objection that could be raised to not want this dog I’m coming up blank.. he is quite literally the complete package. This dog sells himself. Folks, if he fits your family’s needs, Loki is a turnkey solution to that empty spot in the corner of your couch. SFDR transport network is one of the finest groups of volunteers I have ever had the pleasure of observing. If they can’t move him by car, I will step in and offer unlimited Frequent Flyer miles to him and his escort, assuming he fits the airline’s size requirements. Proximity to you is not a deal breaker. As always, I will make available any resources I have at my disposal to assist with relocation. |

I have always enjoyed seeing pictures of Loki. DoverGunner has been a good dad for a quality dog. I already have two Semper Fi dogs, and if I were able, Loki would be a perfect 3rd for sure. You won't regret it, if you are on the fence go for it. The foot thing cracks me up. |

Just an observation… So I woke up a little while ago , away from my home and my dog ,on the other side of the world for the 87000th time. I fully expected to see Loki gathering his things and the transport list being activated. Then I read the first couple pages of GD: bank runs, Mc Donalds is demanding cash only for breakfast sandwiches and ZEBRAS HAVE STARTED EATING PEOPLES ARMS!! These events may not have been foretold in prophecy, although I’m not a biblical scholar so maybe they were, ,but clearly people are nervous and unsettled. Some of you might be thinking “ the world is too uncertain right now to bring a new member into the pack.” I would argue that NOW is EXACTLY the right time to add Loki to your family. An additional layer of security along with the stress relief that a loyal dog provides is just what the doctor ordered. Life is hard enough as it is. Denying yourself one of man’s greatest pleasures, the companionship of a (another) good dog is short sided and foolish. For those on the fence, like the infomercials on late night tv, the call is free. There is no obligation demanded nor expected to reach out for additional information about Loki. Send a quick PM to Kitties or Dover. Post your inquiries in this thread if you like. Maybe he’s for you, maybe not. But do not regret not finding out the answer to one of life’s more important questions… |

Y'all, I am talking with @RECONSIX He and his wife are clearly on board, but they have only two cats. Not another pup. That said, this cold end up being the right place for Loki. Maybe they work from home or there is some other thing that would make this the perfect fit. However, DoverGunner was very specific about another pup in the household, and he knows Loki better than anybody, and can foresee potential issues, so we have to take that into account. IMPORTANT: If RECONSIX and Mrs. Reconsix are ready for a pup, even if it turns out to not be Loki, there is a long line of dogs waiting in the wings for good homes. Anybody who applies for a dog with SemperFi Dog Rescue and that dog goes to another member, it's my policy to put that person at the top of the list for consideration for other dogs that are a good fit. Looking and hoping this may work out, but let's keep bumping this thread. ~Kitties |

My rescue dog and his cat buddy are inseparable. In fact, I’m not sure he even knows that she is not just a smaller/fluffier version of a dog. Seems animals are not as picky as we are.
