I agree the Turks are the only ones that could swing it. They're in a position where the Russians do not want to piss them off.

That said, I highly doubt Russia would agree. I don't think they'll settle for anything other than extermination.

I agree.  Russia is out for blood, most especially AZOV blood.  If anything, killing them to the last gives them an out from a propaganda aspect.
Agreed. That fits my belief on Russia's new war objectives.

The way I see it, they're going to eventually declare a ceasefire "to negotiate for peace" after achieving 3 conditions. 1. Damage enough of Ukraine's military, defense industry, and economy to be able to declare demilitarization. 2. Eliminating Azov so they can declare successful denazification. 3. Occupying a large enough part of Novorossiya to declare liberation. I think those will be important for domestic consumption.

In the occupied areas they'll hold their fake independence referendums and eliminate/relocate anyone who believes in Ukrainian identity to further neuter any resistance. Then they'll use years of "ceasefire" time to recover and rearm while constantly working to destabilize and weaken the Ukrainian government. When the time is right they'll try again.

ETA: 1 and 2 are propaganda that they can declare whenever they feel like it. I don't think they'll achieve #3.

Why they're seeing what they can produce in short order to fill in anything they might want to?

In the past few years there were wide dpread reports that their EuroFighters were neutered  due to the sensors needing  replaced and the company  that made them shut down due to no workers.

The Navy was almost stuck in port due to a lack of parts and the tanks were almost all sold to Poland.

The parts wete to come from migrant workers they let in through the front door.
They decided that welfare was better than work.

Germany  is getting  what they deserve.

It's  pathetic, but at least they have millions if solar pannels (in a cloudy country) to show for it.

I was thinking more conventional headache makers, but with the initial headings of North and East, one might still wonder if they had some AGM "car batteries" of the '86 vintage on board.  They're old birds, but not in the boneyard yet, and still have an important place in the triad.

If Russia is intentionally moving slow it may be on purpose. Allowing supply lines to stay with them. Slow and steady wins the race…..no running away from supply lines.

Ukraine needs a way to rain more hell on those supply lines again like they did around Kyiv.  They might be better defended now, but those fuel trucks should still make nice big booms.

That matches what I have heard here and there. Stuff gets stuck in Lviv, while frontline units are going begging. Quite frankly there is not enough NGOs focusing on delivering stuff to the front, it's all demand-driven - i.e. if the unit managed to dispatch supply people back to Kiev or Lviv, and if they manage to connect with the right NGO, and if the NGO has what they need - they might get it.  Or not.

While he makes a fair point that Putin isn’t the origin of our pain, he’s also making other assertive statements that aren’t necessarily true. He peaked in Desert Storm so I’ve ignored him for over a decade. Nothing to with Ukraine, long ago after reading his stuff I was unimpressed.

Sounds like Russian propaganda to me... Just like how they were going to annihilate the UA on the way to taking Kyiv in 72 hours...

Being slowed by your own supply lines is a bad thing. Not as bad as outrunning them but when you have the enemy running the last thing you want is to give him a breather.

Doing Captain things, when people are paying him to bloviate about things well above or outside of Captain things. And he’s responsible for the BCTs.

Excalibur has a range of approximately (25 to 35 mi) depending on configuration, with a circular error probable (CEP) of 4 m. The extended range is achieved through the use of folding glide fins, which allow the projectile to glide from the top of a ballistic arc towards the target.

The munition was co-developed by United States-based Raytheon Missile Systems (guidance system) and the Swedish BAE Systems Bofors (body, base, ballistics and payload). Excalibur is used to minimize collateral damage, for targets beyond the range of standard munitions, for precise firing within 150 meters (490 ft) of friendly troops, or when firing in a straight line from the launching cannon is limited by terrain. It has a multi-function fuze that can be programmed to explode in the air, once it hits a hard surface, or after it penetrates inside a target.

One Excalibur projectile can accurately hit an intended target that would require the use of between 10 and 50 unguided artillery rounds.

The United States plans to begin training Ukrainians on how to operate howitzer artillery systems in the coming days, a senior US defence official has said, as the Biden administration seeks to bolster Ukraine’s defences against an expected Russian offensive in the east.

The 155mm howitzer cannons are part of an additional $800m weapons package for Ukraine that US President Joe Biden announced last week. It also includes other artillery systems, artillery rounds, armoured personnel carriers and helicopters.

I'm really hoping we're sending Excalibur; that would make the 40k rounds have a really outsized impact.

OD-Man is a Putin Puffer. So is MacGregor, or might as well be. MacGregor was urging capitulation by day three and predicting it was all over.

He was predicting the Ukrainian army to be destroyed in the first couple days but he also said that the Russians would “annihilate” an American armored division so it’s not like you would have done any better 🤷🏼‍♂️
