As I understand it the current russian military training is still very similar to the soviet training where they train to button up in their vehicles and drive through a nuclear wasteland with nobody to shoot at them. |

The first shipments of the latest round of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine, which includes heavier weapons systems, started arriving in the region over the weekend, according to the Pentagon. The recently approved $800 million in security assistance includes Howitzer artillery systems, 40,000 artillery rounds, armored personnel vehicles and other weapons. A senior U.S. defense official said Monday that four flights of shipments from the assistance package arrived in the region over the weekend with a fifth expected in the next 24 hours. The official did not detail which weapons from the recent package landed in the region first. Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby in a press briefing said the Defense Department expects to start training Ukrainian trainers outside of Ukraine on how to use the U.S.-provided Howitzers in the coming days. The topic of repayment keeps popping up, so I thought I’d point out something that may have been missed:
The US currently has frozen $100 Billion dollars of Russian assets. There are multiple precedents in recent history where assets the US government froze were liquidated and used for other purposes, such as liquidating certain assets of Afghanistan to pay 9/11 survivors. So, while I’m sure the prices is complex, there is absolutely a path forward there some (or all) of this Russian assets never make it back to Russian hands, snd instead go towards rebuilding Ukraine (and “repaying” countries for assets provided). |

However, I'm glad to have learned their true colors now instead of after a big SHTF event, when I may have hoped for their help. Damn. A "conservative gathering".
