Nice lady actually, unless someone paid her to find you. Process server, bail/bonds and bounty hunter all wrapped in one package. Our company lawyer at the time, knew her. Messy divorce, not quite ex-wife took the kids and moved a few states away, etc, etc. Anyway, against our better judgement, we took a job for a church in what could be termed "the hood", and got stiffed. In fairness to us, it wasn't "the hood" proper, but a couple streets over, so we figured it would be prejudiced to make the assumption that they wouldn't pay us. Weeks and a few months go by, we file in small claims. We call her, she says she doesn't work that area and doesn't know anyone that does, but knows someone that might know someone and will make a call and will arrange the introduction at our office. She calls back and says the guy will be at your office around 1. It's now 1, and a US Marshal walks into our office and says that he was told that we needed some help with a process server. We said that's correct. He said that Leeroy would be at our office in a few minutes, he looks like the meanest sonofabitch ever, but he's really a nice guy. And yeah, Leeroy looked like the "You gonna get raped" meme but with gold teeth, a big scar and glass eye. And he was actually a nice guy. Leeroy served the pastor in the middle of Sunday service, when the plate was being passed around. All around, a surreal experience. We got our money. |
