Is it the fact that it is a direct impingement system that blows unburned power and crud back into the receiver or is it something else?

Heel.
I’d say tight tolerances compounded with a gun ran dry and dirty. |

One could argue the bolt design, but KAC and LMT has solutions for that.

Needing offset scope mounts might be a downside, but it let's you change handguards and barrels.

Its retarded people who are unable to fully appreciate the genius of Eugene Stoner and try to fuck with it.

Government profile barrels have a weak point at the back of the gas block journal.
Carbine gas guns are tougher on bolts. |

The fact communist cocksuckers think it looks scary and try to ban it.

View Quote While this is true it is also the reason that the AR is one of the softest and easiest rifles to shoot. It is a mechanically efficient design where the BCG doubles as a piston. There is less mass reciprocating versus either a long or short stroke piston. ...and then they retrofitted short pistons into the thing!!! Interesting note that the current rifle of choice for CAG and DEVGRU is no longer a 416 but back to DI M-4 type...hmmm.... The USASOC URGI is a DI M-4 type...hmmm... |

Lots of little springs and detent pins that get easily lost. Doesn’t run as well as other weapons when not properly lubricated. Suppressing it can be tricky. Buffer tube is somewhat flimsy.

View Quote Good news is the AR is easy to assemble and disassemble with huge aftermarket accessories. Bad news the tiny springs and some roll pins can be a pain to get in flush. |

The bolts tend to have problems with high round counts. Ejector, gas rings, even the bolt itself can break where the cam pin goes in. With that said, an extra BCM bolt is in the safe for each rifle I own. I don’t lose sleep over it.
