Holy crap it's hot out.
Worked most of the day outside, no shade. Lost about 5 lbs AFTER drinking 4 bottles of water and 30b0z of "caffeine water". Kicked my ass. I pushed too far and started getting cramps, had to go cool off in the truck. Stay hydrated folks. Ib4 some of our West Coast members advise me of what a pussy I am...... |

Yesterday was 100°F temp with 111°F heat index. Screw you humidity, bring on fall

"Caffeine increases glomerular filtration rate by opposing the vasoconstriction of renal afferent arteriole mediated by adenosine via type 1 AR during the tubuloglomerular feedback. Caffeine also inhibits Na(+) reabsorption at the level of renal proximal tubules. In addition, caffeine perturbs the hepatorenal reflex via sensory nerves in Mall's intrahepatic spaces. "
Don't hit caffeine hard in the heat if you ain't used to it. |

Quoted: Have your husband draw you a cool bath rookie. View Quote Not quite. I used to do this intentionally to cut fast during the summer. It seems to take a bit more out of you when you're old and out of shape. I've had a really hard time getting back into the gym since we had the wuflu last year and then everything shut down. I work outside most of the day anymore, but today was rougher than usual for some reason. Maybe I'm getting soft...... |

We were under a heat advisory today and for the next day or two. It's particularly hot and humid out there, and that's saying a lot. Feels tropical.
Everyone be safe, and switch up for some Gatorade along with all the water. |

It's probably a good 102° in my garage right now charging bike tires. 10 min in and I'm all F this I'll wait till it cools off to mid 80s in a couple hours.

Doubt your getting soft, spoke to my son who is in Atlanta and told me the humidity today was sucking the life out of him today. Chin up, pound water and stay healthy back there. |

Quoted: Humidity is no joke. You good, old man? View Quote Not great, not terrible..... I'm good but wore out tonight. I'm pretty familiar with heat exhaustion, but got fixated and it snuck up on me. Figured if it could happen to me it could happen to other folks. I'm taking my old ass to Costco to get some sports drinks and tp tomorrow. |

View Quote One of my first projects in my new house was insulating the garage doors. When it's bad out, I keep the big doors closed, leave the door into the house open, turn the AC down a couple of degrees, and put a box fan inside blowing out. It cools things down nicely in just a little while. It's my workshop. I don't use it for parking cars. I also have a compact squirrel-cage fan I just bought. I freaking love it. It blasts a jet of air wherever it's pointed, so I keep it aimed at wherever I'm working. It makes a huge difference. |

View Quote Shouldn't have drank anything with caffeine since it will dehydrate you. You also have to drink way more than 4 paltry bottles of water during an 8 hr shift. |

Also, in order to catch back up you will need to drink 20-24 ounces of fluid for every pound you lose with activity. |

Did it most of my adult life, no more, can't do it. Still work, just waiting till it cools off.

I convinced one of the young guys today that he had to piss in a water bottle and text it to safety to show he wasn't dehydrated.

I was a ref for six rugby games last Saturday. It was hot as hell in Florida
The tournament organizer collapsed and they had to take him to the ER. Lack of hydration and overheated. |

I spent 6 sticky hours working outside on the lawn after 8 sticky hours of working in an non-air conditioned factory. Dew point has been pushing 80 for days. At least there was beer for the yard work.

Yeah, it's hot in GA....
Per the forecast, next week it seems to be going down a little.... |

I did the same thing last Friday. I had a couple thousand pounds of steel to move onto a trailer in our warehouse and our mini-skid was broke down, so I did it by hand. Heat index was around 100 and air temp inside the tin can warehouse building was hovering around 110. I drank all my water and said to myself I was almost done. I just about passed out.
Us northerners aren’t used to this shit. Give me -20F over this any time. Then I can put my carhartt on and work all day. This shit is unreasonable…. |

4 bottles is nowhere near enough for being outside this time of year. Drink in gallons.

It was only 104 today so I went mountain biking.
AZ……embrace the suck |

I’m just waiting when we go full pads after a few “heat acclimation” practices.
It’s brutal enough in full synthetic clothing with a hat and sunglasses. |
