Good...I like happy endings. Releasing career criminals early (as California has done) is never a good idea. Returning to a life of crime should have consequences when home owners can defend their castle. Criminals might not fear prosecution or jail, but it would be a better world if they feared law abiding citizens defending their homes.
Recidivism shouldn't be an issue for at least one of the perpetrators.
