One time at store, I heard this mom telling her kids that she wouldn't buy them a gallon of chocolate milk because it was made with crappy reject milk.
I've never forgotten this, and I think about it every time I am jonesing from chocolate milk, and I grab a pint of TrueMoo from QT. Is it really inferior milk, only made palatable by delicious chocolate flavoring? |
|
Chocolate milk is in no way inferior.
It simply comes from chocolate cows. I know because my mother told me so. |
|
Had a Dr tell me and the wife that chocolate milk was just as good for you as regular white milk.
Makes sense I guess. |
|
Chocolate milk from the local dairy - yes please!
Chocolate "milk" from the gas station - that's gonna be a no for me dawg |

Most pre-made choco milk tastes too sweet and rich for me, and also seems really thick
There was only one choco milk that I had that was really freaking good, but I can't remember what it was. If I could, I'd be drinking it every damn day. So ever since forever my choco mix has been Nestle's Quic choco and strawberry milk. |
|
Hey, here's a question:
Why in the heck can't you get premixed Ovaltine? |
|
Quoted: TrueMoo is cheap, like a buck and a half for a pint. I'm actually more of a Nestle Quik guy. Strawberry and strawberry-banana are da bomb. They're smaller containers though (14 oz), and cost two dollars View Quote Hmm, I never noticed the price on the strawberry because I only buy the one size it comes in, but I always buy the biggest round container for the choco milk. I love the strawberry, but I rarely drink it. I always try to convince myself that my next glass of sweetened mik will be strawberry but I always end up grabbing the choco next to it. |

LOL I used to drink chocolate milk a lot, even used it for cereal. I used to put white milk into my scrambled eggs.....well....one morning I was out of white milk and thought "why wouldn't chocolate milk be just as good?" WELL......the eggs cooked the same, were a bit black, and didn't taste that great. I never did that again. |

Carageenan
In all of the premixed. It's what keeps the chocolate in suspension and is potentially bad news. I have a spoon and can stir. |

Prairie Farms chocolate milk is the best in the world.
Oberweis is a close second. |

Ronnybrook Farms chocolate milk is by far the best I’ve ever tasted.
When I pick up a container at the supermarket I have to put it in the bed of the truck. Otherwise I’ll drink the entire half gallon while driving home, fully aware of the gastric consequences. |

Quoted: Quite true. Best there is. Just for fun, I bought as many different brands of chocolate milk I could find and did a blind taste test with my 5 kids (ages 6-17). Fairlife came out on top hands down. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Fairlife chocolate milk is what you seek. Quite true. Best there is. Fairlife is good, and has no more sugar and more protien than regular 2% milk. One cup has 140 calories and 13g of protein.
I sometimes mix fairlife 50/50 with egg whites for a protein drink. You can't tell the egg whites are in there at all. |

Dutch Choc Milk is usually made with older milk that is re pasteurized and the Choc is added.
the "twang" from the Dutch Milk is from this process. (direct from a Clinical Microbiology class 30 years ago, discussion of pasteurization). regular Choc Milk is made from standard milk and is delicious. |

man, when I was a little kid we always had that powdered Nestle quick stuff... which was alright, but sometimes it didn't mix well and could be a bit sketchy... when my parents split I moved with my mom out into the bush far away from civilization so we had limited grocery options... anyway I'll never forget, my dad was a bit of junkfood junky, kinda ate like a teenager when he became single.. one weekend I went to his place and he had a carton of chocolate milk in his fridge all made up from the grocery ... I remember it tasting so friggin good, I couldn't believe it was possible that ready made chocolate milk was an actual thing.. ... I thought it all came outta that powder tin..LOL
