Watching the drama unfold from the gamestop crowd manipulation has shown just how much power the oligarchy in our country has..
The overreaction to things like Trump getting elected, right wing angry protests, a over hyped pandemic, and plebian stock manipulation just goes to prove, like everything else in 2020, that our whole Civilization is a house of cards built on smoke and mirrors. Elections, free markets, freedom of speech, rule of law etc. All illusions. It's both sobering and terrifying. Add in that with anarcho tyranny being used to go after political pariahs and the justice system is anything but. It paints a picture that we are more controlled then we ever thought. It's strange seeing our civilization implode, elites taking advantage of it in real time, and being powerless to stop it.It's almost like watching a terrible car crash happening in front of you. Clown world no longer adequately describes what's going on. |

It's a beautiful mash-up of The Matrix and Idiocracy. What surprises and saddens me the most is that unbiased, real time info is available, regarding almost any topic or situation, to anyone willing to look... and yet, so few want to see what is right in front of them. Frustrating as hell...

And now you know why so many politicians, groups, billionaires, market hucksters, and corporate America, to include the media was against Trump. Sure he wasn't perfect, no one is but he did try to pull the blinkers off the public's eyes on a lot of stuff. And many people didn't want to really see in the end, and the dissenters made sure, by any means they could employ, he wasn't going to continue to try.

Everyone is trained from a young age to not just not notice what is right in front of them but to actively reject it and attack anyone pointing it out.

Reminds me of Bane and his gang dragging Gotham's elite out onto the streets. And later, making them walk the ice.

Yep.
The swamp state, the media and the financial institutions are all limbs of a giant beast that need to be slain. |

Can someone explain exactly what's going on with Gamestop? Dumb it down and put it in about five bullet points or something. I still don't get what happened/is happening.
ETA: I get that "LOLOL they gamed the system!!!" I want to understand the mechanics of it. HOW they did it. |

The only question I have left is if the "people" were ever represented by the leaders. It's pretty blatant now, but I have to imagine it was always like this. People had even less access to information and public communication, so anyone who figured anything out was just the local nutter.
When I was younger I couldn't figure out why politicians were painting the internet as some big threat that needs to be locked down and everyone identified. It's much more clear to me now. |

Solid post OP.
This is literally financial warfare. They will continue buying gme no matter the price. Tomorrow is going to be the wildest day the market has ever seen. |

ETA: I get that "LOLOL they gamed the system!!!" I want to understand the mechanics of it. HOW they did it. View Quote What's started it was Michael Burry, and Ryan Cohen, founder of Chewy. What's going on now, is that Melvin Capital, and other hedgefunds shorted more shares of GameStop than are available. Imagine selling 5 quarts of milk when you only have 1 gallon. Retail traders (people like you and me) caught on to this, and started buying up all available shares collectively, and are holding. When you sell shares short, there's an interest that you have to pay, just like when we borrow money. It's around 26.2% for Melvin, so as each day passes, they're burning money. They thought they could wait us out, so on Monday, Point72 and Citadel loaned Melvin $2.75 billion, and it was burned up by noon on Monday. There are many hedgefunds that are short on GME, not just Melvin, as they start to freak out, they have to start covering their shorted shares, which in turn drives up the price. |

View Quote The problem is, the loan of shares has to be returned by a certain date, or they have to pay the market value back to the institution(s) they borrowed from. Along with that, they sold more shares than they could buy back on the market...they oversold. Someone noticed, and they got the word out so people started snapping up the shares. Naturally, with limited supply and healthy demand, the price went up. And as more bought (or tried to buy), and refused to sell, the price got driven to ridiculous valuations. This is known as a "short squeeze". This is all going to come crashing down, one way or another, when time runs out for the funds. One way or another, they'll have to settle. Once the shorts close, the price will plummet, and whoever is left holding shares will likely get killed on the fall, unless they got in at the very bottom. |

Wait? Game Stop's stock price is part of the deep swamp conspiracy too?
You people need help. |

The whole thing is so masterfully choreographed that 87% of the participants don't even know they're part of the show. The elites, the rich & famous, politicians, the MEDIA, the schools, corporate, etc... It's all lock step in this big movement, idea, and most can't even see it.

America was a huge experiment with something [individual rights] that had been never really been done before. Even the Founders understood that it could only be kept by a moral people that didn't give others access to other peoples rights, their lives, and property. And ANY tax is the taking of another mans life and property. |

Quoted: Hedge funds made big risky bets that Gamestop's stock would go down. They sold it short, meaning they borrowed shares and sold them, with the idea the price would go down, they would buy them back and return them, and profit from the sale. They sold high, and planned to buy low later to settle the position. View Quote To be clear, they didn't just borrow, they sold shares short that didn't even exist, hence the short float being over 100%. That's what's pissing people off. The SEC had no problems with these fund managers destroying a company, but when their buddies get hurt, they need to change the rules. It's market manipulation if done by retail investors, but it's monetary policy when the fed buys corporate bonds. |
