From my uneducated perspective, I still think the V280 should get the nod, since a lot of tilt rotor lessons have already been learned.

The defiant X just seems huge for some reason.  But if there are economies of scale in getting both it and the other FARA/FLRAA in the same setup, that also seems like it would make sense.

Looks like the SEALs chopter in Osama raid.
Ugly yes. But better in every aspect from the UH-60.
The White house should go with this instead of the VH-92A

The Army has over 2,000 blackhawks.  No way you can replace 2,000 $15m blackhawk with a $50-100m fancy aircraft, there just isn't money for it.

Doesn't look like it'll fit into any airlifter ever built -- except maybe Super Guppy.

If it won't fit on a hangar deck, no Navy/Marine version, either.

The height is the concern. Cant make those coax rotors any shorter by any kind of folding

I saw their artists' animated fold back.  Doesn't shrink the mast height.  Real-life Blackhawks:

What does the "SEALs chopter" look like?

[#22]
It needs to be modular and scaleable, with mission-specific modules that can be on- or off-loaded.  And it needs to be Navalized.  And it needs to be optimized for all environments, from desert to Arctic, but especially for the littorals.  And it needs to be highly automated to reduce crew.  And all the services should get a variant of it.

What about the V280?  I know the V22 folds a ton, but that introduced a bunch of extremely expensive design choices.

I was in when the Huey was starting to get phased out and the crash hawk came in. Nobody really believed the Huey was gone yet here we are. 30 years later and none remain in the army. No reason to doubt they have an unlimited budget

USAF birds fly around here every so often; that "THOP THOP THOP THOP THOP" sounds is unmistakable.  I may miss it when the MH-139 replaces the UH-1s, but I doubt it.

While this seems like it would be ideal, I wouldn't be too surprised if it's the 280 and "invictus" thing instead.  Though honestly, whichever stands the highest chance of getting fielded/surviving the politics of it all is best.

But a 280 with hard points could be a nice middle finger to the USAF/key west agreement.

ETA:  stupid autocorrect.

They did an awesome job.
The real thing seem like a modified Army MH-60 Blackhawk too and not a new helicopter. so they both have the same platform
