I suppose if it was 1985, it would make some sense but it isn't 1985. It must be pot bellied old guys living in the past. Yes I've heard all of the reasoning, it's still stupid, especially considering the condition of the US Postal Service

If its something I RILLY RILLY want, I got not problem waiting in line for a USPS money order
I would have to REALLY REALLY want something to buy from a guy that only accepts money orders
Just makes things too complicated when you can use any of the numerous money transfer apps |
I'm very much interested in the weld racing wheels you have for sale. I'm embarking on a business trip soon.
please provide me with your PayPal account information. Nope you send me a usps money order. Crickets... FU Limey bastard. |
I’m with OP.
Unless it’s something I’ve been looking for years for and beyond a stupid deal. |
I do both depending on where I have money , if you really want what the seller has then you will pay the way they want to accept the funds. Honestly for all those privacy concerned sorts the USPS MO is more private than shuttling money in and out Zelle , Apple Pay, Google Pay, Paypal and that fucking Hipster Venmo .
For the most part I don't care how you pay, but if you send a personal check don't be in a hurry to get your stuff.
How else do you send cash long distance without a huge fee?
iTunes gift cards? |
I will do a money order/cashier's check from my bank, but fuck going to the USPS to wait in line with those slow ass robots. Unless its an ultra rare item from another hobby of things I collect, I'm not dealing with it as the item is usually available from someone using payment methods from the present day. I don't have time to wait in the USPS line like they apparently do in order to cash the damn thing.

PayPal locked me for assault weapons parts because I did a transaction with someone using their ar15.com email address.
Even after I sent them proof that I wasn’t buying anything on their restricted list and them saying it would be unlocked. Nothing. |
You damn kids don't have paper checks. How else am I supposed to avoid electronic meddling?
Seriously though, fuck paypal. |
I prefer to pay with PayPal, and collect with USPS MO
It works for me. |

I won't buy anything from anonymous individuals on the internet.

I've scored some really good deals from the MO only crowd. I'm not the biggest fan of that payment method but I certainly don't dismiss someone because of it.
If Ive got something you want, well you'll damn sure use the payment options of my choice, or someone else will get it.
It really IS that simple . And unless I know you, nothings getting shipped till the money is in my grubby, mangled mitts. ETA....if it's the other way around, I expect no different treatment. |
I guess I am a whore. I will use whatever method the seller/buyer wants if it something I want. I just plan accordingly to the method.
I try to avoid buying from them unless its a must or a smoking good deal.
My laziness would rather hit "send money" than go down to the clown show and wait in a long ass line spaced 6ft apart (so now it is even longer) and wait for the seller to get the stupid thing. Why don't the post office jump onto electronic money payment (federally guaranteed) they could make a profit. Yeah, but no instead they are sponsoring commie programming on NPR |
I won't lie, unless it's something fucking unobtanium I will pass on a Money Order only sale due to the sheer annoyance factor of going to buy one.

Yes I've heard all of the reasoning, it's still stupid, especially considering the condition of the US Postal Service View Quote USPS rarely has enough money to cover a $40 dollar MO. They start with an empty drawer in the AM, apparently. Luckily the bank will take it and deal with it, but it eliminates the instant cash, and instantly knowing the MO is not counterfeit. I have to add that the PO worker I dealt with last time was a pure cunt. He immediately asked were I got the MO and instantly said it was fake. Fucking cunt was wrong and he knew it, and was just being a fucking cunt. He had to look through three teller drawers to find $40. |

i honestly don't care
i've returned money orders that weren't USPS - try again |
I'm with the OP. If someone only accepts USPS MO I skip the ad, even if it's something I want. I will wait and/or pay more for convenience.
In this day and age there are plenty of means of transferring money electronically, which is leagues easier and less time consuming than dealing with money orders. Ok so fuck paypal, use Venmo instead.... venmo is owned by paypal! Some people make life more difficult than it needs to be. |
Nothing specific about USPS that gives you any benefit over any other certified funds. The USPS more than likely will not cash their own money order anyway, because they are broke.

Zelle is the best IMO. USPS is annoying as fuck, but if I want it I want it.

View Quote I still pay most of my bills by writing and mailing checks. Not a Boomer though! Gen-X master generation. Helps me keep a better handle on the $ than just electronic. I find it somewhat relaxing to sit and write checks, stamp envelopes, balance checking account. I'm weird though. |

I accept Money Orders as payment only because it gives people more options to buy from me. Money is money. Would I pay with a Money Order? Not my first choice.
