I like my Gerber Strongarm.
I don’t really have a battle belt though, pretty sure they can be mounted horizontal, what configuration were you shooting for? |

I faced this same question, and settled on the M7 bayonet. I think it is far more likely that I may have to deploy a bayonet in a crowd control, prisoner escort, or intimidation scenario than I will have to have instant access to a tactical combat knife.

Glock knife.
Basically an updated copy of the m3 fighting knife. Battle belt knife doesn't mean "survival" knife to be used for bushcraft; battle belt knife is for "battle". |

I have nothing that will take a bayonet, so it opens up the world for me.
I have always wanted one of these, and I finally broke down and got one. Not practical, but it is a damn fine knife. Cold Steel Magnum Tanto San Mai:  This is the actual knife I use for every occasion, including trimming the shrubbery. BKT BK9:  Everyone will have suggestions. Buy what you want. |

Another vote for the Strongarm. USA-made Gerber, good grip, great steel, and the sheath is well-designed and fits well on molle gear. Best thing is the price. Average is 60 bucks or so.
EDIT: I also have a Cold Steel SRK that is 20 years old and has been beat to hell. Excellent knives, but the sheath is a bit aggravating. |

I personally avoid any knife made of 420 stainless. I have never found it to keep an edge for very long. Others more knowledgeable may have different experiences.
