I'm a huge fan of the M4 Sherman... inexpensive and very effective, was able to turn the tide in WW2. I'm also a sucker for the classics.

M551 Sheridan. 15 tons, 152mm gun/launcher, M2 for the TC, M240C coax. Fire that main gun over the side and the suspension on that side would come off the ground from the recoil! Most fun I ever had on a track laying vehicle.

Early war Spitfire for looks
P-51D for sound. There is no better mechanical sound than a Merlin in a Mustang. But the early GWOT humvees, with little/no armor and shit hanging off them and guns stuck everywhere just look so cool to me. I think they harken back to the old LRDG jeeps and trucks from WWII. I'm sure someone with actual experience in them will come along and tell me that they were horribly dangerous, uncomfortable, unreliable hot garbage, and I'm sure they're right. But they looked so cool Attached File |

M561 Gama Goat My ride at Fort Polk 85-87 1st FWD Support BN High speed low drag MOS 29J Teletypewriter Repairer Made a lot of RATT RIG field trouble calls in my machine, B83 I drove it pretty hard and off-road it was no slouch. Loud as hell. |

M1078 LMTVs are my favorite. Put 5000 miles on one and was always happy with driving it.
I hate Humvees. They look cool. That's about the extent that I care for them. |

vw/bombardier Iltis, Its about the only thing close to my price range, and I have mechanical parts for it already.

I think the Cadillac-Gage V100 is bitchin'. Chrysler V8 gasser, 4x4, standard shift, 500 mile range, amphibious, turret mounted machinegun. Marine Security Dets at Naval Air Stations still used them in the early 80's. I would upgrade with a multi fuel diesel, an auto transmission and maybe a 20mm in the turret.
