I would have a hard time picking an album let alone a song.

I can tell you I do not like St Anger but that's not really going out on a limb.

Early stuff is my favorite, but Load is still a solid listen all the way through. Same with Death Magnetic, honestly, if I'm arguing they've have good later work which I certainly am.

Maybe Trapped Under Ice?

Was having beers with a buddy and we agreed most Metallica fans differ, but have sold arguments.

I'd totally accept Don't Tread On Me. Great song.

One.  That song got me started on Metallica.

Master of Puppets
Outlaw Torn
Bleeding Me
Harvester of Sorrow

Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightening were the best albums.  I have a very hard time choosing my favorite song, because there are so many good ones.

I really enjoy Garage Days.  There is something about a great group of musicians, playing their favorite songs and putting their own twists on them.  You can hear that they are just having fun.

Master of puppets.

The song was the first Metallica I ever heard, and I remember discussing it with my friends.   We figured it was a cautionary about drugs right away, but the "eureka" moment is when you realize the melodic part in the middle of the song is the narrator getting his fix and floating away.  Then he comes down and the song is more intense and the 'gotta' is back.   Probably did more in my crowd to get kids to say "fuck all that"  to fuckin' with drugs than Nancy Reagan's 'just say no' thing ever did.

Add in 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' due to the fact my last dog played that with her tail on the support post in the garage.

A lot of good ones on there, but I really love "Am I Evil?" for driving when I'm pissed off about something and I need to clear my mind.  I've pulled into work, windows rolled up, in my own little world, singing along to that one, only to realize the Director of my division is right next to me.  I don't think he's a metalhead.

Their take on Astronomy is brilliant.  Helpless is truly tasty.
