Achievement, benevolence, lucky, once-in-a-lifetime, right place/right time, etc....
Make it a humble brag thread. |

Someone mag dumped a ruger 10/22 with a 25 round mag at me and I some how didn’t get hit and made it behind a fallen tree.

Unique is that I sat at the Presidents desk on the flying Oval office on AF1 28000. W's crew jacket was slung over the back of the chair.

Skiing was pretty fun. Sex with hot young chicks was pretty cool also, ha. Shooting a M60 belt fed machine gun was amazing!!! Haha

Flew with the Red Barons flight demonstration team. Went through entire routine with 3 foot wing spacing. Open cockpit Stearman biplane. Great experience!

Skydiving with a friend and my Mom makes the list. My Mom was injured though, so overall bad.

Won a 3 day trip to the Super Bowl in ‘96. Cowboys vs Steelers in AZ. Pulled an audible and turned it into 10 days hitting the Grand Canyon and all the other stops in AZ before heading up to Colorado for my first time skiing off the east coast- and got there right as a blizzard dumped fresh waist deep powder for us!

I have been blessed with many great moments throughout my life. However I am going to be a Grandpa in a few months and feel that will take the cake.

Traveling remote Alaska. I've been all over it. From Nome to Dutch Harbor. Staying in villages and flying in small planes and helicopters and going to places most people never go.
Watching my kids be born. |

Beat University of Michigan in a college football game in front of 105,000 people.
Played a football game in the Los Angelas Colosseum against USC.( we lost - but James Caan was on the sidelines and got to talk to him) Traveled and have been to 42 states. Had the greatest mom and dad and family that anyone could wish for. Second marriage is great - family and 10 grandchildren. |

Helicast from a Chinook into the Panama canal, Joes extraction through the canopy out is pretty high in the list.
Paddling the Amazon , at night under a milky way that actually looks like spilled milk. Catching a lot of toothy fish there. Elk hunting the Rockies at 9000 feet. Some Playboy quality poontang. 10 second quarter mile. Might not seem that fast now, but a youngster in the early eighties thought it was pretty cool. Some pretty badass interior attacks on structure fires. I can’t complain. |
|
Not my #1, but still pretty cool is the time I was at a range facility with a bunch of high profile instructor types. And on a whim, I pulled out my little 3" 45 carry gun and rang a 6" steel target at 100 yards, one handed.
It was 100% an accident, but I calmly reholstered my gun and walked away like the worlds biggest badass |

Many things but one worth mentioning is coming back to Florida from a business trip to California on the corporate jet. The pilot got permission to to a low level fly over of the Grand Canyon on a beautiful clear day.

Son being born
Snowmobiling above the tree lines in the Rockies Shooting machine guns NV Shooting my Barrett M82 Driving a Porsche GT3 and a Hellcat Riding out several hurricanes Seeing a massive comet in '13 or '14 opening day of duck season Got shot at a couple times. I wouldn't say cool necessarily, but definitely makes you feel alive and thankful when it's over. Probably others. But life is pretty cool. |

I've seen and experienced things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
|
|
I've been just north of the arctic circle, and south of the equator. I've had relationships with friends, and women that most people will never experience. I've changed the lives of thousands of youths. I could go on, but you'll have to wait for the book to read more.

About a month after I solo'd a plane for the first time it was Thanksgiving day, and I stopped by the airport just to see if anything was going on.
Weather was perfect, clear, sunny day and 70F, no wind, and the place was absolutely dead. The owner of the flight school happened by and said since nothing we going on, we should go fly. We each grabbed a pair of keys and I spent a couple hours in a new plane (Katana DA-20) blasting around the pattern with the whole airport to ourselves and it was glorious. It was so slow even the tower guy checked out for a while and asked us to yell for him if someone else showed up so we didn't even have to deal with comms. Highly improbable events happening with women also rank up there. |

private yacht vacation is high on the list, thankfully i know some rich people
had some fun times earlier in life with a girl who would go on to become fairly famous in the adult industry. i like to think i taught her a thing or two |

Quoted: Getting blown out of a deep barrel. View Quote That is a good one, I remember my first. Other cool ones. Snorkeling with Whale Sharks, Scuba with reef, white tip, black tip, hammerhead and a Tiger Sharks. Watching lava flow along the ground as close as I could get with the heat ( maybe 5 foot or so ). |
|
I was in the TV news biz for 30 years so got to see/do a lot of cool stuff. It's hard to pick one thing.
I hung out of the door of a German Army Huey while shooting video at the World Helicopter Championships in England in the '80s. That was pretty cool. When I interviewed members of the Soviet helicopter team, Sergei Sikorsky (Igor's son) was my translator. That was pretty cool also. |

When I was in the army I had a sailboat on Pamlico sound. When I finished my tour I sailed it down to Key West and then on to Mobile. Three months of absolutely no responsibility.
Except to not sink. |

Building and flying my own airplane then learning to fly formation in it from a former Marine fighter pilot.
A video I took with the camera attached to my head while doing a formation landing: FormationLanding |
