Do not buy airport sushi at 5:55 PM right before a six hour flight

I usually gorge myself on tuna and kani nigiri when I go eat sushi.

In light of all the political gloom and doom of late, lets change it up and have a thread discussing the topic of sushi, sashimi, poke bowls, etc. Pics are welcome also. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/11440/20210111_131812-1774972.jpg View Quote Imitation crab meat, avocado, and cream cheese? Pass I mean, I wouldn't call it a fancy dinner (or even sushi ) but the California roll definitely has its place. |

Quoted: Yeah I know - not really sushi. Not my first choice either, but it was what was available. Still better than a ham and cheese sandwich. Love it, here’s my most recent door dash order:
Unagi, spicy tuna, and “rise and shine” roll which is smoked salmon/yam tempura/crab meat/cream cheese/truffle aioli/sweet mustard. Attached File |

View Quote I’ve seen it in grocery stores and restaurants, even had a coworker that made his own, but never seen it in a gas station. There are some gas stations around here that have huge wine and craft beer selections that may have it, but I’ve never noticed if they have it or not. |

I live near Goodyear (the tire company). They have had some strong ties with Japan over the years, although I have no idea where that stands now. There is a place about a mile from my house that is amazing. The guy that opened it claimed that the original Japanese contingent of Goodyear was not pleased with the local sushi, and brought him here to make it for them. He was supposedly some old school sushi guy (can't remember the title), and there are/were very few of them left. Might all be bullshit, but that was his claim,
In any event, the stuff that he, and now his replacement makes since he retired, is amazing. I have had almost everything on their menu, and have only disliked the whole baby octopus that my kid ordered by mistake.... It is the real deal, made in front of you sushi. |

Strangely enough we were just talking about getting sushi tonight.

a few guys make it. renegadeburrito IIRC, along with a few other guys.
I tried, but after a few inept attempts, i just threw everything in a bowl and called it chirashi. |

I heart Sushi and Sashimi and Boxes
I summon fish to the dish, although I like the Chalet Swiss I like the sushi 'cause it's never touched a frying pan There are some surprisingly good sushi restaurants here. We actually have a couple that are ran by real deal Japanese folks. The dudes rolling the stuff don't speak English. |

I miss sushi.....both our good semi-local spots shut down this year thanks to IL being assholes

I’ve got two small grocers that run $5 sushi every Wednesday. The same little group of chinamen travel from store to store and make it fresh ever morning.
