It seems that nearly every week someone starts a thread asking for a bourbon recommendation, to ask what others are drinking, etc. I thought it would be nice to have an ongoing thread where people can ask questions, post pictures, share information, reviews and more.
Tonight, I’m starting off by finishing off the last of a bottle of an entry level bourbon, Old Forester 86 proof. I keep quite a few varieties on hand including a couple lower proof budget bourbon for making cocktails for my wife and guests. I bought a couple of bottle today and needed to make room in my cabinet so I’m emptying these last of a couple of these basic pours. For a $20 bourbon, OF86 is not bad at all. Nice spicy vanilla on the nose with a hint of floral. Smooth and slightly sweet on the tongue as you might expect from the lower proof. Very short finish with a bit of lingering cinnamon. View Quote Nice. I have a half dozen or so store picks from Makers. Problem around here is they are over priced. I'm not paying $85 for a MM store pick, when cask strength is available for less than half that. |

Anybody tried the Evan Williams single barrel? Super smooth but a feel like it’s missing a little depth of flavor. Makes a great manhatten though.

Y’all, I’ve been drinking in Louisville since 11am… plus a lot last night.
Y’all remember the library scene from Beauty and the Beast? All the books and the ladder on rollers? Imagine that, except bourbon. That was my dinner. |

Do any of y’all know about that 22 year old Blade and Bow?
It’s juice made by Stitzel-Weller right before they had sold off all of their naming and mash bill rights and shit down in 1992. Those barrels sat there aging in their rick houses until the company was bought in 2014. I had a pour of that 22yr this weekend. That was head and shoulders above the Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year I’ve had. @justsayin - I sure did. Brought back a baker’s dozen bottles with us: 3 - Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream 4 various bottles from Boundary Oak Distillery near Fort Knox 1 - blended my own at Barrels and Billets 2 - New Riff BIB 1 - Middle West Straight Wheated Bourbon 1 - IW Harper Cabernet Cask finished 1 - Blade and Bow And too many pours to remember. |

Nice score from Sams!!!!
My old local Walmart at one point was getting Blanton's, Eagle Rare, and Weller12. Didn't last long but it felt like finding a couple hundred bucks on the ground. |

I've never been so lucky in my life. 3 bottles of Blantons yesterday and a 1.75 of BT and Sazerac Rye last week. My buddies came over and we damn near killed the rye.
I wish I could find Eagle Rare like like I did blantons this week. My dad loves blantons so I buy it for him birthday/father's day/Christmas when I can find it. It's not a $59 bourbon to me. But it's a perfect gift for him on those days so it's worth it. I wish Ohio wasnt state controlled. I'd pay more to get what I like. Attached File |

I’m drinking a “cocktail” tonight with a bourbon and a finished whiskey.
2pt Boundary Oak Distillery - Lincoln cask strength (106 proof for this batch) 2pt Boundary Oak Distillery - St. Luke’s Lavendar The St. Luke’s starts as the Lincoln bourbon but is finished with lavender to give a sweet, almost honey taste. According to the guide, they’ll mix both of those for a sweet “cocktail” or use both to make an Old Fashioned where the lavender whiskey replaces the simple syrup. |

I pretty much quit drinking bourbon and rye.
I don't know what happened but one day all the bourbon tastes so strongly of peanuts I stopped enjoying it entirely. Some had always been that way (1792 full proof, bookers, EC barrel proof) but others started to like EH Taylor which never had that taste to me before. I've just stopped and my poor shelf sits unloved. |

I wish I had picked some up a few years back when it was more available over here. But at the time I hadn't started into ryes that much. Nothing high end by any means. But, when I was in N Michigan I picked up a bottle of IronFish bourbon finished in maple syrup barrels. Very nice. Then the other day, I picked up a bottle of Old Forester 100 proof. DAMN, for a relatively cheap bottle that stuff is VERY NICE!!!
