Ummm, then drop the "urban minority" crap. It's sounds like you are running for grand wizard.

Great Britian has fewer, cities, but I believe the ones they do have are fairly compact, and populated. People per mile is higher in Europe than the US.

GBR also has consistently high umeployment, usually around 10-20 percent. I think I just heard 14%

You are much less likely to be murdered in GBR statistically. But robbery, burglary, assualt, are far more common crimes. Burglary rates are something like 10 times what the US rates are.

There was a report in the CRPA monthly rag back in Feb 2002 IIRC, that indicated if you remove Black crime, the US has a lower crime rate than Europe.

You didn't say "urban poor", or "urban", or "poor", you said "urban minority".

Next every country will blame some sub-group for committing more crimes than the majority group. Just like Hilter, and the Nazis did.

In the US, that is exactly the case.

Well that is just wrong… US OVERALL CRIME RATES ARE LOWER THAN ENGLAND’S PERIOD.

WITH Black crime and all other sources included US violent crime rates are lower than England, which currently has the highest rate in the world.

England passed the US about 1995 and has had increasing violent crime rate while the US rates have declined. The only categories the US is higher in than most European countries are rape (sightly), and homicide, but…

The Europeans do not count suicides as homicides the US does count suicides as homicides; suicide rates in Europe are 2-4 times US rates so that number is not as different as most believe it to be.

Property crime rates in Europe are very much higher than US rates.

Rudolph Giuliani was recently hired as a consultant in England to try and help them get a hand on the problem.

I think you are wrong on the homicide, suicide data collection.

No data collection that I am aware of in the US counts suicides in with homicides.

If someone wanted to really do an interesting study they should rank the crime stats of various countries based on the illegitimacy rates.

It's easy to see the "urban/poor population" as the lowest common denominator but I don't think it is.

You really only see a rising crime rate in the "urban/poor population" after illegitimacy became federally subsidized with "The great society"

Suicides are used in the US calculation of violent death they are not in Europe.

Not all homicides are deemed as murders but the statistics and numbers used to get the violent death rates for each country are the homicide numbers not the number of murders. The FBI  counts suicide as a violent death European crime statistics do not include suicides as violent deaths.

According to a U.S. Department of Justice study dated 1998 with data collected in 1995 The U.S. had higher rates of murder and rape while England had higher numbers in the other categories.
Not suprising, crimes involving firearms are not even close. Homicide: 68% in U.S. and 7% in England.

Digging through U.S.D.O.J. spreadsheets on crime rates/indexes I can find no data to support that suicide is included in violent crime data.  Does anyone have information that states that suicide is included in this data? I can see suicide as a violent death but crime data indexes break data down( assault, robbery, homicide, etc) and do not reflect just a broad category such as violent death. I can find no suicide categories. Even looking at homicide trends and overviews, DOJ makes no mention of suicide.  I would think this information would be included as it would be very valuable data.

edit: from FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/addinfo.htm

"Homicide as defined here includes murder and nonnegligent manslaughter which is the willful killing of one human being by another. Excluded are deaths caused by negligence, suicide, or accident; justifiable homicides; and attempts to murder. The classification of this offense is based solely on police investigation, as opposed to the determination of a court, medical examiner, coroner, jury, or other judicial body."
