Consider this part 2 in my saga to get my speeding ticket thrown out...
I go up to the courthouse today to request a trial. Obviously, for _my_ security I must leave my gun in the car, because all Utah judges decided they didn't feel like following the law, and choose to not install gun storage lockers in the court buildings. (Even though these lockers are required by state law and the legislature even funded the whole thing.)
Anyway, I get to the x-ray machine, metal detector area and start dumping out metal - coins, keys, cell phone, pocket knife (sign on door says no knives allowed, but I kind of ignored that).
I forget about my watch and leave it on. My briefcase goes through the xray, and I walk through the metal detector. Beep! The security/cop babe (she was pretty cute) says "that probably went off because of your shoes" and handed me the tray with my metal items.
I quickly put my pocket knife away and other stuff, wondering how my tennis shoes would set off the alarm. I don't get wanded or searched - she just lets me walk on through.
A minute later I figured out that I had forgotten about my watch. I had a full sized puffy winter coat on - I could have taken an arsenal through that machine and just walked right through.
I'm glad I don't rely on the police to protect me.
