I have been wanting to buy a 9mm MAC machine gun for quite awhile but my wife has been against it - apparently I have too many guns already (no NFA though). Recently when it came up again, my wife said (probably jokingly) that if I get her a gold bar I can get a machine gun. I didn't enquire too much further into the matter (because I think getting a gold bar will not be difficult and don't want her to retract the offer) but I think her point was that machineguns appreciate for reasons similar to gold (scarcity and market changes, as opposed to stocks where you are getting a portion of a business that is working for you creating things - Warren Buffets same objection to gold investing).
Anyway, so the question becomes - which gold bar should I buy? It turns out that there are many different small gold bars available online - basically with brand names. It looks like the 1g bars (must be tiny) are quite a bit off from the spot price but the 1oz bars are pretty close. I'm not really interested in a major gold investment, but I don't want to overpay either. Is there a specific brand that is best known or can be turned in for cash directly (as opposed to for scrap value like teeth or old jewelry)? Is there a best accepted brand? I see bars from the canadian mint and some swiss mint called pamp and a bunch of others. Coins like the old Krugerands people kept probably make the most sense because they come from an official source, but I need a bar. |

Machine guns? YES
Gold bars? YES Membership? Gee, I can't afford that |

Het a raw gold bar. Because they look like legit treasure gold.

Yeah, why not? A 10 oz gold bar is in the range of 13,000 dollars, similar to a lower end machine gun.

The twenty ounce bars are a size that it starts to feel impressive.
That said the smaller 2 to 5 ounce ones are easier to exchange. |

Just get her a gold plated lead bar. It'd be like 20 bucks and she wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Buy from a trusted seller. There's actually fakes with tungsten rods in them. Also "certified fakes" encased in plastic. Use a major company like apmex.

The MG grows faster in value than gold. So buy His and hers MG's and be done with it. If I knew now what I know about Mac's I would have bought tons more Powder Springs Mac's years ago. Do it now OP.
ETA: You don't have enough guns if you don't have any NFA items! |

Pamp Suisse are my favorite ones. They make everything from 1 gram up to well over a kilo.
My goal is to own a kilo bar. 32.15 oz. Theyre not cheap. |

I'm betting she means a standard gold bar, not one of those trinkets.
It was her way of saying "when pigs fly" If she's serious, you would need a minigun with an aircraft attached to be fair. "The standard gold bar held as gold reserves by central banks and traded among bullion dealers is the 400-troy-ounce (12.4 kg or 438.9 ounces)" |

Does it have to be real?
Even best quality movie prop gold bars are relatively inexpensive. |

You could always just buy the MG and sell a lesser gun from the collection. If the argument was that you have to many guns already....there is a loophole.

Kitco I was just looking at them tonight.

Here is how I’m planning on doing it... bought semi uzi... sold semi uzi... f/a uzi bought.. f/a uzi home...
Of course I don’t have a shared bank account and the wife doesn’t know my safe combo. If my wife ever told me that, I would buy her a bar of silver and spray paint it gold. |

|
Also, if you go the MG route, do it right and get a transferrable MP5

Bring her something gold colored every week. "Is this it"?
Might take awhile, however eventually she tell you to just buy the damn MG. |
|
Just tell if too many guns is a problem, then the too many rule will now apply to purses and shoes.

"you cant have this expensive thing unless you buy me an expensive useless thing."
