One of my favorites. This guy lost his appetite.

"He totally ruined mine. I just cancelled out on Thanksgiving with my friend's family. After seeing that, I can't bear the thought of watching her family beam about what a grand and beautiful thing this was. They're nice people but too many Republicans in that family. I can't risk saying something snarky or less than complimentary about that inarticulate frat boy, the Idiot-In-Chief which I once read was Nancy Reagan's nick-name for him."

98. He's such a coward!

He's a wimp just like his dad. All secrecy and lies. All spin and PR. He has NO GUTS. He's a WIMP!

12. Being reported on CNN however, they don't know anything.

Says he is extraordinarily intrepid. He is moving around on a helicopter so is in great danger. Jeez, gimme a break. He hasn't met with any troops except a few in the airport.

Isn't this the closest he got to a war? Oh, I forgot he announced the war was over.

And how close have you asswipes ever been to a combat zone?  Or any sort of risk in your lives?

I've never visited DU.  Went to see what all the fuss was about.  Here's a couple classic lines.....many more over there as well.  Damn, I really got a kick out of them!!

"he's a coward and a pussy"

"I was screaming and cussing at the tv and I'm so upset I'm about half-sick from it. He just STOLE the holiday from me as far as I'm concerned."

For some cheap entertainment, go see for yourself!!

Embarrasing little bastard,

skulks into Iraq like he skulked into London, the only time he speaks is in front of the military, they have to listen and salute.

There's a lot of despair and defeatism over there.  All over one little ol' trip to Iraq.  It's amazing how volatile they are and how they overreact to whatever's the news of the day is.

My computer's wigging out, so I haven't been able to see what's up with them as of late.  But this one is amusing: they're fed up with the media being described as "liberal".  Their solution?  Turn around and call the media "Conservative".  Take that!

It shows how shallow their thinking is.  They think this is some unfair, unwarranted slander the media has been slapped with.  No attempt is made to consider the arguments and examples of this "liberal bias".  So they think slapping the adjective "conservative" onto the media with stick and hold water, even though it's demonstrably not true.  And they think if they repeat it over and over enough to everyone they meet, people will accept and believe it.

It's amazing how stupid these people are. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=785138

I've seen Bush (41), Clinton, and Carter make speeches to the military. Carter was a former by the time I was active but still he got a warm reception as did Bush (41). The speech I saw Clinton give the military audience was met with only polite clapping - a real cold reception. The civilians didn't make much noise at all - and most of them were union workers.

Naval Service

Carter received an appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis through his local congressman and graduated 59th in a class of 820 in 1946. In July of that year he married Rosalynn Smith, whose family lived near Plains. Carter's naval career began with service on battleships, but after two years he was accepted for submarine duty. After serving on the USS Pomfret in the Pacific, he was selected as one of a group of officers to work under Capt. (later Adm.) Hyman Rickover on the nuclear submarine program. Rickover had a profound effect on Carter who, after studying nuclear physics at Union College, Schenectady, N. Y., served on the crew of the nuclear submarine Sea Wolf. In 1953, following the death of his father, Carter resigned from the Navy and returned to Plains to take over the family farm.

Very little difference. It's mostly politics as played in this country. LBJ did the same thing with Vietnam. It's nothing new. If you like Bush; it was a brave masterstroke. If you don't; it was political grandstanding. Substitute "Clinton" for "Bush" in the previous sentence in regard to Clinton's trip.

No politician(including Presidents), no matter how noble, does anything without first having advisor's evaluate the political fallout; good or bad. Some things may be right but are never done simply because there is nothing to gain. I, personally, don't care where the President goes. After all, he is the President and has every right to go here or there. I can only hope it was done for at least some of the right reasons. And to show that I am an "equally opportunity political doubter," this goes for ALL all of the Demo candidates as well. [:D]

Ya know, what they fear...really doesn't scare me much.  It scares them because they aren't prepared for it.  They aren't prepared for it because their whole reason for existance is the expansion of the societal safety net.  They are anti-personal preparation in favor of that safety net.  They view all of the government and social programs in place as something they have spent 60 or more years building, and now it it either being turned against them, neutralized or scrapped.  No matter why, they take it as a personal affront.

Just the fact they think they themselves built it belies the collectivist mentality they all have.  The social programs they all love were enacted in the thirties, before they were born, or the sixties, while they were smokiing dope and dodging the draft, or even still too young to do so.  They didn't do anything, but they think they did, because they are all one brotherhood.

They are so focused on the societal safety net and their social programs, they can't see there still is a role of the individual FOR himself.  I just started rereading this book (pictured below), and it is a more intense version of Atlas Shrugged.  They get right into the talk of the brotherhood and how thinking for oneself is bad.  It read like the situation DU fawns over.

I really  believe that the hatred DU'ers have for President Bush stems in large part from the knowledge that if Gore had been elected President, we would be much worse off.

They KNOW that Gore wouldn't have had the resolve to pummel the terrorists in Afganistan, much less the vision and determination to liberate Iraq in the hope that, once it became a  stable, modern, democratic nation, that those values would spread across the dozen or  so, despotic and medeivally backwards nations of the Middle East.

CKMorley

PS: "Anthem" is  great. A MUCH shorter and concise work  than Rand's others.
Compare it to other  "negative utopia" novels like "1984", "Animal Farm"and "We". Whereas these other novels blame the evils of socialism upon the failure of individuals to follow  the System, "Anthem " identifies thec true culprit, Socialism and the afraid-to-really-exist sheeple who cling to a clearly evil system.

Would you be so kind as to NOT remind everyone here that my beloved alma mater has the WORST track record on earth when it comes to producing politicians?

Carter! Perot! McCain! [puke]

Thank you!

BTW, coming in late to this whole issue. I didn't crack a radio or a TV yesterday, so I found out about the President's visit this afternoon. Was there ANY announcement beforehand? I didn't hear a peep about this (which doesn't suprise me).

Now I'm going to skip over to DUh to see aneurysims occurring live! [:D]

You're right that the political advisors undoubtedly had their say on this, but I think you're wrong on one critical thing.

Clinton used to go to these things just for the photo op. Bush went because he CARES.

Don't take my word for it: the best measure that I'm right is the reaction of the troops, WHO CAN, BELIEVE YOU ME, TELL THE DIFFERENCE!

Further proof? Look at the glint in W's eyes when he's surrounded by military folks. His dad had (probably still does have) it, and Reagan had it. Clinton NEVER had it, and I know because I was IN the military almost the entire time Klinton was there, and EVERYONE (except the TWO lone liberal officers I knew and the usual handfull of uneducated black enlisted idiots) KNEW that he hated everything we stood for...
