I’ve read the virtues of this wonder powder on here numerous times. I started by washing my Carhartt coat, and my weeks worth of socks.
What am I in for? Have I discovered Nirvana? Unfortunately, it’s not being washed in a Speed Queen, so that sucks |

Whiter whites and softer clothes without the need for fabric softener, but mostly whiter whites, and grease stains come out on the first wash. (bacon grease)

Is this the same stuff people wash dishes with around here?

Make absolutely certain you bought the right stuff.
There are two types, only one is what you are seeking. |

Wrong stuff. You want the sodium tripolyphosphate variety. Too much of trisodium will eat holes in your clothes, and when used in a dish washer will etch glass. STPP https://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-sodium-tripolyphosphate.htm

You can get sodium tripolyphosphate at any butcher supply store, too.

Not for me, I've read that it doesn't play well with septic systems.

Searched on Amazon Prime for it. Dap makes it, and they market it as a mold cleaner for drywall. Go figure View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

It is used to strip dirt and mold off of wooden decks and concrete. Pretty mean stuff
"The all purpose cleaner used by professionals prior to painting exterior surfaces. It removes mold, and de-glosses surfaces that are oil-base painted. Ideal for cleaning garage or basement floors, it can be used to restore dried, used paintbrushes." |

Not sure what that new fangled stuff is or what its uses are.
If you want something that works and wont harm you, your clothes, or much anything else. why not use washing soda? Washing Soda |

I just ordered the proper tripolysulphate stuff on Amazon. I get the sinking feeling I’m going down in ARF history for this

If you have a shirt or pants with a stain that absolutely positively nothing else will get out, make up a paste leave it on there for about 20 minutes put it in the washer and 95% of it will come out.

One or a few loads won't matter. Stop and switch to the STPP available on Amazon and as others said maybe a butcher shop. Bang, a few posts late.

Everything should be clean as hell.
We used to use hat to clean the tar and nicotine off walls before we painted them. |

I know a woman who swears by Fels Naptha & 20 Mule Team Borax. YMMV.

Or boiler water treatment chemicals. Coordinated phosphate boiler water treatment has been used for ages for ph and corrosion control. Mixed many bottles of tri and di and poured them into the chem add pot.

I took all my baseball caps and put them in a washer on hot with this. All the sweat and dark coloration was removed without affecting any color. Do not put your hats in the dryer let them dry naturally and you’ll be impressed they smell great too.
I bought like 5 pounds on Amazon three years ago and I still have 90% left. |
