I was watching Full metal jacket the other day and it dawned on me that Private Pyle became Animal Mother.
He was indeed Born Again Hard. |

Think about Kubrick's use of symbolism and it makes it quite plausible.

Huh. I never thought of it that way before, but it sort of makes sense if you ignore the timeline and suspend disbelief. Dave was reborn into the Starchild in 2001: A Space Odyssey, so it's not a foreign concept for Kubrick.

Think about the conversation between Joker and Animal Mother
when they meet in Vietnam; hints are in that conversation. Animal mother saying to joker "You're a real comedian" etc. Rafterman is call New Guy, as he is new to the group. Pyle is Dead, but Reborn as Animal Mother. |

View Quote If Pyle was reborn as Animal Mother, the war scenes would have to be at least 18 years later. Otherwise Animal Mother, being Pyle reincarnated, would be like 8 months old in all those scenes. Which would be pretty fucking cool in its own right. |
