Difficult to argue against The Who.

The Who endured for a couple decades with one timeless album after another.

I'll go with this, from my HS days, but the Rolling Stones and the Beatles are tough to beat.

Jimmy Page, John Bonham and John Paul Jones.

If you know anything about making music, how do you possibly top that rock band lineup?

The Beatles. 17 number ones. The Stones, I think had 8. The Who had 0.

Of course the Beatles were popular. They had the music best suited to the time.

I think we need to define Rock n Roll. I do not consider the Beatles or The Beach Boys Rock.

For me Heart, The Eagles, AC/DC,  White Snake, Aerosmith, Foriegner, Def Leppard, Guns and Roses these are Rock bands the rest is just pop or whatever the f*ck Elvis was. If I had to pick a favorite AC/DC.

I like modern bands exponentially more than classic 'greatest of all time' rock.  Unfortunately what seems to be coming with that these days is an inevitable sellout to the Imagine Dragons/Maroon 5 type of fuckawful pop-'rock'.  Shinedown could have been the  greatest of all time, but they listened to their label and managers and started making SHIT after their third album had some genuinely good crossover hits.

So right now, I think my answer will be

Disturbed

Not always my favorite, but always full octane and no compromises.  And GODDAMN do they bring it live.  Rob Zombie is the only other I've seen that comes remotely close.  Crowd surfing Down with the Sickness is going to remain one of the top moments in my life.

Runner up for GOAT for me would be Alice in Chains.  If forced to pick something from the classic 'legend' tier, Van Halen hands down, no questions, as long as we can pretend Hagar never happened.

How much crack did you have to smoke to reach that conclusion? Was it just a $20 rock or was it like Whitney Houston level shit?

For fuck’s sake, the guy who said Nickelback has better taste in music.

Agreed; I only went with the Stones because of longevity. It could be said Zeppelin burned out in Rock and Roll tragedy and so is more deserving. Flip a coin.
