A Texas man who was seen on video abandoning a 1-year-old dog on the side of the road is facing animal cruelty charges.

Cameras installed by the Dallas Marshal's Office caught Gorge Spears leaving a dog by the side of the road in southern Dallas on Monday. Spears turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrests in Dallas County.

"It broke our hearts to see what happened to sweet little Claira-Belle," said Maura Davies, vice president of communications for SPCA of Texas. "She has found a new and loving home where she can live out the rest of her life."

The SPCA of Texas said Spears admitted to dumping the dog when he turned himself in, stating his sister wanted to get rid of the dog because she couldn't control her. Spears could face up to a year in prison and a fine up to $4,000.

It was a very popular place to dump dogs there for a while, then some Russian chick started posting photos and making the city council look bad for not controlling the dumped animals and not taking more action to stop it. Then the city finally stepped up.

The dumpers though just moved on to other parts of town. We had two that have taken up residence at another piece of property we have just a few miles down the road.

All the other viral shit you've seen from Dallas is all from the same General part of town. Southeast Dallas is like Florida.

That part of town is basically right on the banks of the Trinity River, not many farmers, but a shitload of coyotes. Most of the dogs I see are starving to death. If they don't die of hunger, I imagine the coyotes tear them apart and eat them.

There's a wooded park behind my office with a creek surrounded by low income neighborhoods. Every time the fire trucks go by with their sirens, the coyotes start howling in the middle of the day. Lots of dogs dumped there.

So "Fluffy" isn't going to find a nice home in the country, "Fluffy" will be torn limb from limb and eaten alive.

Yep, people dump animals all the time near our farm. Nice, wooded, curvy road that is not traveled often. Coyotes get most of the smaller animals (cats, small dogs), and the ones who make it up to the farmstead are disposed of. It's not my responsibility to take care of your animal, and I am not paying to take them to the pound - which often is overcrowded, has no vacancy and requires a $20 drop off fee.
