Mention to him that you want to transfer the gun into his name(NICS) and see how he reacts.
in this case I'd do it just to be safe. |

Transfer it through an FFL if you are that worried.
How good of a friend are talking about? Like friend since middle school? Or dude you work with and drink a couple of beers after work with kinda of friend? |

At least in TexasI have seen charges remain in databases even when there is no conviction. Likewise I have seen people surprised that expungement was not a guarantee of their privacy. All kinds of hell can happen because of that.

How common is his name?
My name is fairly common and you should see the piles and piles of shit that shows up if you do one of those searches on me. That's also why I'm always delayed on NICS checks. :( |
