I'm actually pretty well verse in various cuisines but ironically had never had Pho.

Went to a fairly high rated pho place today with my girl to try it out and I left there with mixed thoughts.

The good:
Liked the broth and the herb mixures.

The bad:
Way too many carbs, not enough protein.

Pho seems to have this "healthy" stigma attached to it but it reality as someone who eats pretty healthy I was left feeling like shit/bloated like a pasta meal.

Here I am its getting close to dinner time now an I have a steak/shrimp/salad dinner to prepare and I still feel like I ate too much even though I didnt even finish the entire bowl of Pho.

Think I'm going to stick to Sushi for my asian type food fix.

Not saying it wasn't good, its just going to have to be a special occasion for me.

There's alot of variables with Pho so I'll slowly keep exploring it to find the right combo for me.

I felt definitely needed more lime next time. I only had one wedge.

I think the average bowl of Pho is less than 50g of carbs.

I don't think that's very bad. Especially if your other meal of the day doesn't go overboard.

Yes, I love me some Pho.

I love pho. Get extra meat, eat less noodles, a could squirts of sricha sauce in there. Delicious.

I always get beef pho and spring for extra beef, most places do go too light on the meat for my liking.

I love it, and we have an excellent Vietnamese restaurant near by.  My wife is not nearly as big a fan, so we don't go out for it as often as I'd like.

I love pho. Never thought of it as a healthy food though. I got to a pretty traditional place and it's a little bit of rare beef in a extremely spicy broth with soba noodles.  Super tasty.

I absolutely love Pho.

I'm a back woods country redneck living in NoVA, but you'll find me in a Pho restaurant at least once a week.

The place I go puts a ton of meat in there, almost half the bowl is meat.

Throw in a few seconds squirt of siracha and I'm in heaven.

I pho king love pho.
Almost always get it with seafood, but like it with beef and tendon too. Either way, needs fresh sliced peppers and some chili sauce. Dam good stuff

One of my favorite foods.

Beef pho with lime, mint, and a spoon full of chili garlic sauce stirred in.

If you like Pho, then you should also try a Vietnamese crepe.

Pho is awesome.  Sometimes I'll order it to go and save half of the noodles & meat to make my own soup the next day with chicken or beef broth.  I also buy a bag of bean sprouts, cilantro, and a lime from H-Mart to add the next day since I use all that they give me.

I get Pho with plenty of chicken in it. It makes for a hearty lunch, but, certainly not a dinner time meal. At least for me. Pho with beef usually has some fatty cuts of meat. Main reason I stick with chicken.

There's a pho restaurant near us whose owners know my wife and me by name.

I was curious about it once but am now hooked to it. The hoisin sauce is great there too.

I'd love to try it, but it is a bit intimidating.

There is a hole in the wall place up the street that has great reviews.  I checked out their menu and there are so many choices.

You ever have a food you love, then you eat a very bad example of that food and you never want to eat it again?  Pho is one of those foods for me.

My wife and I were on a Pho kick a few years ago.  My wife got the idea to try to make it herself.

The recipe she found called for star anaise.  Not exactly sure if she used too much of it, or if she didn't use enough of/the right other spices to balance it out, or if maybe the recipe's creator had a fucked up sense of taste but that recipe came out tasting absolutely awful... near vomit inducing.

Won't go near the stuff now, scarred for life.
