That's pretty good to go, the 1070 runs everything pretty damn smooth.

I plan on overclocking the CPU to about 4.0ish, maybe more if it handles 4.0 fine. I am not exactly in the loop on all the current hardware though. Is there anything I could scale back on or should bump up to avoid wasted performance in other components?
edit: Will this run the likes of Star Citizen on max settings or close to it? |

id upgrade the case and monitor to take advantage of the 1070. 144hz and 1440P at 28"
1440p has made a huge difference for me. I also like a full tower case for max cooling, fury X's in crossfire etc. YMMV JMHO. Really easy to get my hamfists into when installing the little crap. all else looks solid ETA: I just looked at that MB. Id maybe upgrade it for ease of OCing.....again, just depends on what you want. I became on OC junky on both my I76700 and Fury X's. Lots of fans, room, great mobo etc and have hit 4.9 on the I7 and cant remember the data on my r9 Fury X, but with the current drivers and my OC im north of the 980TI by a good bit. Im waiting for the new AMD graphics cards to come out. |

Personally I like the Gigabyte Gaming series motherboards and I love the Skylake i7 at 4ghz. As long as that mobo is solid though, looks pretty gtg, and the 10 series cards are pretty amazing

That's a nice parts list, but you will probably want to upgrade that monitor PDQ. A 1070 is overkill at that resolution and refresh rate, but you will easily max out every game out there right now. Maybe save up for an Oculus or a Vive.

If you want a 32" monitor get one that's at least 1440p, that's way too big for 1080p.

I'm still using this, but I don't have much time for video games.

With a 1070, i'd utilize it to its full potential and get at least a 1440p monitor. Multiple monitors too.
Also for $10-20 more, you should get a mechanical keyboard. It makes all the difference. |

Looks good except for the monitor and you're going to run out of room on the ssd if you're not careful. I use a 500 gig ssd for windows and operating programs and drivers, games get put on a 2 TB 7200 rpm WD Black. My next purchase is going to be a good monitor (144 hz, IPS, gsync). The 1000 series cards are pretty serious hardware and you're gonna be pissed when you see a side by side of that LG with a good 27" gaming monitor. Not sure on the cpu cooler, I run a Corsair H110i GT. Not sure on the keyboard either.

Alright I swapped out the i5 for an i7 at 4.0ghz stock. Got a 2k 27" monitor. Bigger case.
So all in all you guys have cost me about 400 dollars.

Looks good, but yeah as others have said, I would upgrade the monitor. If it were me I would get two smaller monitors, preferably 1440p 144hz for the primary one. Also a mech keyboard (I prefer mx blues, or brown if you aren't a fan of the noise).
I don't really see the need for water cooling. A decent air cooler would be fine for mild overclocking. Also if you happen to have a Microcenter nearby I would check them for deals. They have 6600k's on sale for 189, plus another 30 bucks off if you bundle with a mobo. I recently got my 6700k from them for $259

I would not go bigger than 24" if going for only 1080P. It will look to pixelly at 31"
go with 4k if you want 31" otherwise dual 24" monitor is good for 1080P |
