Two wheel drive duelie pickup truck of any make unloaded.
They suck, period. Diesel is even worse then the gassers with the even more disparate weight difference between front and back. |

Mustang.
From personal experience, a 1986 Mercury Cougar with a 302. |
|
My ranger is pretty bad in 2WD.
And when I say bad, I mean really fun to play around with. In 4WD its G2G |
|
|
I had a late 80's Astro Van and that thing SUCKED in the snow.
|
|
2007 Scion TC. The factory low profile tires are the worst in snow. It was so worthless in snow we had to trade it for a 2011 Rav4 with 4 wheel drive.
Rav4 kicks ass in snow. I had a 71 Ford F150 2 WD. That was worse than the TC. Too light in the ass end but it sure could smoke tires. |
|
any empty, 2x4 pickup truck.
Best daily drivers are FWD though most don't have enough ground clearance in snow. We don't get snow here often so we do fine with our vehicles. |
|
'80's model Toyota Pickups.
Too narrow to fit in the tracks of fullsize. Too light to get traction, yet too heavy to float on top of the snow. Fucking things are pathetic. I have a dually this year... |

It sucks on the rain even with cooper AT3s on it. Luckily I'm close to work. When I have kids I'll be upgrading to a bigger truck or SUV. Hopefully I can keep the little ranger though. |

Ford transit. Fucker gets stuck on flat ground and an inch of snow.
My diesel in 2wd will have the back tires just sit and spin on snow. It will pull 180* turns without a problem either. Put it in 4x4 however and it goes through anything and everything. Freaking boat anchor in the front. |
|
Wife had an '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Simply backing out of the driveway in 1" of snow would cause it to teleport itself into a ditch.
|
|
You're all wrong. The correct answer is 1967 Chevrolet C10 Stepside. Pride and joy, that truck was, but it was absolutely worthless once the snow stuck.
I would take my farm truck, baby shit brown, rusted shitbox 1974 dahtsun pickup to see my girlfriends, instead. If you started to drift, you simply let go of the steering wheel and it corrected itself. It was uncanny. |

In terms of steep or slippery terrain, it was great. I will say that tires makes a great difference. I had a Honda on lease that was horrible. I have one large hill to make it up to get home, and this thing just wouldn't do it. This was when it was new, with the OEM tires. When I replaced the tires, I had no trouble getting up the hill under similar conditions. |

I can tell you from experience that a 2001 Corvette is not that good in the snow. It will hastily and without warning remove itself from the roadway.
|

They're pretty useless in mud too. Back in the day, Knob Creek used to send everyone with a 4X4 down into the lower lot to park. Many of the vendors and shooters had DRW 1 ton 4X4 trucks. Every single one of them got stuck, no exception. It used to be fun to watch at the spring shoots when it was generally wet in there. Didn't help that most of them had highway treads. |

It's like driving an ice cube. My Ram, with the Cummins, does ok in 2wd, but will go thru about anything in 4wd. |

Anything with the wrong tires for snow will be crappy. Most any car will be fine with dedicated snow tires. A RWD Mustang with Blizzaks will do better in the snow than a 4x4 with all season tires.

I drove my 98 Sonoma for 12-13 years in the snow, had some Korean tires on it that actually worked quite well, I would toss 8-10 bags of salt over the rear axle, had a FG cap on it and I plowed thru pretty much every storm without any issues, I was actually quite surprised it did so well. With no weight, yeah, it sucked but not as bad as 2wd duelies. [not enough PSI against the ground and rock hard tires make for a crappy winter combo] |

Guy at work has a front wheel drive Honda, where was maybe one inch of snow on the parking lot with a slight slope and it wouldn't move, backwards or forwards.

My Tacoma is absolutely terrible. It refuses to drift, spin wheels or do anything fun. It just plods along like nothing is out of the ordinary.

remember the ice storm in DFW that shut down Dallas on Superbowl week?
the morning that shit started I passed a guy in a C5 Corvette going 20 mph ( in a 55 mph zone) in the freezing rain, hazard flashers on. I remember thinking that he had about 30 minutes before he'd be screwed, and that he better be heading home. |

View Quote My daily driver is a Mustang and I have zero issues. 4 snow tires and weight in the trunk/hatch make them a decent winter vehicle. I drove at least 1 winter with 4.10 gears and a 3500 stall converter in one of my Mustangs. I drove several years with 80s Cougars and Thunderbirds. The same thing applies regarding snow tires and weight. |

When we were walking down the hill we would check the windows of cars off the side of the road for people. Fortunately, they were never occupied. |

Obviously none of you have driven an MR2 on a sheet of ice, regular or Southern.

Since no one's said it yet, I will -- Miata!
Backed mine out of the garage onto 2" of snow just enough to close the door to do some woodworking. Had to put kitty litter under the tires to get it back in. |

Any ricer hotrod will high center getting out of the driveway..

My JKU is absolutely horrible in 2x4 in any wet or snow covered roads(33" Duratracs) ass end always kicks with the rwd on anything but dry roads... throw it in 4wd... it's a fucking tank.
Last year my dads snow blower died... drove it up his driveway(150') and pulled out his F150 in 30"+ snow without a problem. |

I had a 1991 Mazda B4000 (basically a rebadged Ranger) and that thing would swap ends faster than a $50 whore on a $200 date.
My new F150 has ESC. I wonder what would happen if I turn it off? The absolute worst vehicle I ever drove in snow was a 1974 Ford Country Squire station wagon. No positraction, and it just loved to suddenly break the ass end loose on the interstate. I remember doing a perfect 720° spin (for no apparent reason) at 60 mph, watching semis blow by me. Not cool. |
