Body shop guys! Do they normally replace or repair something like this?

That will more than likely be replaced.
Its rare to spend a lot of time repairing body panels like hoods and trunks nowadays. Labor time and insurance companies make it tough to justify repair over replacement of those panels. |

Looks buckled to the point that there is damage on the understructure and some pretty defined kinks on the side. Would most likely crack and separate when any attempt was made to pull back to shape. Aluminum is a bitch. Insurance estimators fresh out of training (six week wonders) have been brainwashed to believe that it just requires a little heat and aluminum will work out just as easy if not easier than a steel panel. Not so.

If he could have replaced it cheaply he'd have done so. |
